fear does not simply mean fear of harm from.
the disgust is many times rooted in a person's inability
to acknowledge. its an inward fear. a fear of what will
happen to YOU if you look.
by your logic, racism is not based in fear either,
since most racists claim not to fear those they despise.
Why do people "despise" gays??? What is it that makes you hate them that much? Even If your religion says they are evil, then just ignore them knowing that your "going" to whatever afterlife you want while there not... It matters little in the end...
let them live there life how they want, its not like its affecting your life, unless you let it...
I don't believe it is--I think its based in misunderstanding. The word "fear" is overused and misused. Hate does not equal fear. I despise Kia and Hyundai, does that mean I fear them? No, c'mon now.

Let's all hop along the "literal bus" and go for a ride! Your definition or categorization of fear is too static. Do you fear cutting your hand with a knife the same way as you do being mauled by a grizzly bear? Do you experience the same way to fear whether it comes from the suspicion that you may fail an exam, lose your job, or get into a car accident? Do you react the same way to each of these different fears?
I believe what PVS is saying (and please correct me if I am wrong) is that people are threatened by the unfamiliar or unknown. This feeling of being threatened (which is fear) often manifests itself as an aggressively defensive expression of racism.
And yes, people often hate what they fear or misunderstand.

It can be equally an example of intolerance and hate motivated, rather than fear motivated, although often the two go together. It can also be due to the need for every group to have someone to put down and blame their troubles on to make themselves feel better about being who they are. Eg. the Americans blaming Canadians etc. I blame the parents myself

So, this thread has made no difference in the way you view pedophilia? It hasn't been shown, logically, that homosexuality and pedophilia are two different things? That being said, your platform for just stating your opinion on homosexuality takes this thread off topic.
And, how much time do you spend contemplating homosexuality that you have come out on the other side "despising" it? How often do you interact with scary gay people that have found you so irresistable that they have crossed the social boundry of good taste to tell you they find you so attractive that they're willing to drop their pants right there, in public, and let you take them?
What profound threat do homosexuals pose to you, personally, and your life that you have to think about them at all? Because, if you're so damn hot that there are gay men falling out of the rafters over you, you need to post a pic, quickly!
I could understand having such strong feelings for them if they were following you around, waiting outside school for you at three or tossing pebbles at your second floor window at 2 in the morning, trying to get your attention, when all you want to do is go to sleep.
But, I guess you're young. I guess you're one of those people who walks through the mall, by himself, and hates to see other people not being miserable in their lives too.

I also shop alone. It's faster and less complicated. I'm a very deliberate shopper. However, if you choose to go to the mall and shop alone, you aren't who I'm talking about. You know, these kids who go to the mall just to sulk around, hating other people who aren't miserable too.
