This was on Showtime, yes? Pavlik was on HBO. HBO > Showtime.
Anyway, it's cool that the upset happened. Pavlik was dominant, but it was a boring-as-hell fight. 3rd round KO, and about 6 landed punches from Lockett.
Pavlik needs to fight someone real. Arthur Abraham's name comes up a lot, and everyone wants to see him fight Calzaghe.
While I dont like Mora, it was kinda cool that he won. Not only was he the heavily underdog but Vernon Forrest talk so mo s**t leading into the fight that he deserved to lose.
Im glad Pavlick won(no surprise there) but it was cool that Enzo Calzaghe had to throw in the towel. I believe he was tacking smack to before the fight. Joe Calzaghe will have his hands full.

Joe said on last week that he's only having one more fight and that it probably will be against Roy Jones jnr....i guess it's more for the money because he's already cememted his reputation...he's been champion for 10 years and had 25 title defences
I don't respect Joe as fighter and to me his reputation and legacy will always be tainted, unless he fights Kelly Pavlik. Given his history I don't see that happening. Joe is a coward in my eyes. Not real fighter.

yes we're well aware of your opinion of him...i get the feeling that if he fought pavlik and won...you would just say "well he hasn't fought X so he isn't a great fighter"
i'm with you in that i'd also prefer him to fight pavlik as well...it would make a better fight...and i think it's time for alot of the old guard to step down...jones, hopkins, calzaghe etc
i dont know why calzaghe stepped up to light-heavy...unless his metabolism is slowing down and he was struggling to make the weight for super-middle
but the fight against Jones is pointless...i dont even think it's going to get the money that Joe thinks it should attract...because Jones is already history
so pavlik is fighting hopkins....opinions?....i think it should be a win for pavlik and that hopkins should make it his last fight...
and hatton is fighting malignaggi...i think if hatton doesn't step up a gear after his last poor performance against lazcano he could be in trouble...although if he does come at Paul with all he has it shouldn't be a problem for him

I'm way too biased toward my boy Kelly to say, but early word is that he'll be the favorite. Hopkins lost a split decision vs. Calzaghe recently, though. He still has juice in the tank.
Last week's Cotto/Margarito was sick. Last night's Cottey/Judah was less so. Cottey looked like the better fighter, and won on a suspect headbutt ruling. But apparently Cottey was beating Margarito a while back until he broke both his hands in the middle of the fight (round 5 I think). The welterweight division has some real talent right now. I'd love to see them rematch.
In his prime it would've been a sick fight. I'm not going to give Hopkins the win, though he certainly has the track record, simply because Pavlik hasn't reached his limit yet. Undefeated, and only a recent champion (with no serious defenses of it)...Pavlik's best work, or at least toughest challenges, probably are ahead of him. Certainly Hopkins Prime would be favored, but I hesitate to hand it to him.
He did beat Erison Miranda to get the title shot. I believe Mioranda was the favorite going into that fight. Then beat Jermain Taylor first for his title and then in the rematch/first title defense. Hopkins is just over the hill. He needs to retire and stay retire.
