That happens a lot with vacuums. Check the belt and the roller for foreign items that are stuck or attached. You may have to take the vacuum apart and simply clean it because it could be dust burning up.

Or you could buy a new one.

Also, kuddos on doing chores at your age. Most people your age are very lazy and I HATE that about your age group.

Yeah, it should probably be cleaned. It's my roommate's but she never vacuums.
