oh well, wild card weekends done and my pick for the superbowl is gone already. Of all the days for Favre to suck. Great games though. Jets was the best entertainment though.

Americans add throwing, pads, alter the length of the game etc, i.e. change it completely yet still call it football.

Then they call the original soccer, and expect the rest of the world to adopt this bastard name. Pish.

From hence forth American football shall be known as "soccer." by me.

Pretty much if a player is slapped with the franchise tag, chances are they are going to play for that team.

I believed you described the "transition player" tag.

If a player is "franchised" then he cannot leave the team but is guaranteed a salary to put the player in the top 3 (or 5, can't remember exactly) at his position league-wide.

lesser-known transition tag, which means a home club could match an offer by another team so at least a player can go shop his services around the league.

if you apply a franchise team the player is on your team no one else will be able to sign them.. but it costs you and can make troubles with cap room

The most talked about franchise player is Manning. The franchise salary tag is the average of the top five salaries at that position or 120 percent of the player's previous salary, whichever number is higher. Manning was paid $15 million last year and the top-five average is $9.8 million. Because his salary is much higher, Manning gets tagged for 120 percent of last year's paycheck, which is a whopping $18 million. That's a lot of cap space to clear.

here is an old article from nfl.com that talks about it.. i stole some tidbits to explain it shorter here!

vikings over eagles
falcons over rams

Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHA to all those who doubted the Vikings!! I always knew we were a good team, but everybody else thought they were horrible. And i think The Vikes-Eagles game will be close, and i dont care who wins, because there both my favorite teams. here are my picks for the rest of the Playoffs.

Vikings over Eagles(if thier defense plays like they did Sunday)
Falcons over Rams.
Cols over Patriots
Steelers over Jets.

Vikings over Falcons(if the Eagles win then Eagles over Falcons)
Colts over Steelers.

Colts over Vikings or Eagles.
I know it sounds baised, but thats what i think is gonna happen.

I think Vikes will lose against the Eagles. They'll probably self destruct.

They had better get American Idol out there for the Eagles / Vikings game. I have a feeling it's going to be a non-stop "can you top this?" dance-off between Owens and Moss.

are you serious? Owens is out for the season they said the super bowl is the earliest he can play he says he will be ready for the superbowl but its doubted it will be 100%

yea the vikings eagles game could go either way it could even be a blowout on either side i really have no clue whats gonna happen.. i hope Atlanta takes it all the way to the superbowl though.. but both the rams and the vikings have killer offenses and crap defense Atlanta has a very fast defense so i think they will be able to control the fast receivers of any of the NFC teams and Vicks gonna turn into superman

I'm telling you, not even a season-ending injury could keep Owens from one-upping Moss. I can see it now....Moss scoring, turning to spit on the crowd while being pelted by beer bottles. Then Owens crawls off the bench and performs a head spin in the end zone just to make the ESPN highlight sooner than Moss.

Seriously though, I don't see any reason why the Vikings cannot legitimately win this game.

me either as i said i think either team could win.. and the eagles have had too much time off and havnt had a game experience without TO so its gonna be a new offensive plan for them with no momentum and the vikings have all the momentum in the world after crushing bret farve

but TO i dont think will be involved

Exactly. Same thing for the Eagles too. Any team can win that game. I also think that the winner of that game is going to the Superbowl.

thats likely but that all depends on #7 Vick atlantas D is good enough and they have some good recievers if you count crumpler and a strong running game so if Vick had a great game atlanta goes to the superbowl...

however either the steelers colts or patriots will be the superbowl champions

Hey, hey...I'm a Steelers fan as well but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Remember 2001 - we were the top seed by a mile and the Patriots just came off their infamous tuck rule game vs. Oakland and they were huge underdogs to the Steelers.

I'm with you man, but right now 100% of my attention is on the Jets.

the steelers need to be thinking about how to shut down peyton manning.. i dont think they will have trouble with the jets but if the colts get past the patriots i dont know if anyone can stop them

That is true but if they slip up against the Jets then the Colts won't matter.
