hrm....Belicheck, Cowher, Fox, Fischer (yeah I know the Titans suck), then stalwarts like Parcells and Gibbs. Might include Holmgren too.
Leaving anyone out?
I think Belicheck has to be at the top right now unfortunately. But he balances his team well every year. I always thought Parcells was a touch overrated, but Cowher is getting the respect he deserves after the SB victory, though I probably would have had him #2 even before last season.
I wouldnt say Parcells is overated. He's done well for himself, and in modern football, I would consider him one of the best. I'm not even considering alot head coaches nowadays used to be Parcell's underlings...like Belicheck.
"coached NY Giants to 2 Super Bowl titles (1987,91); retired after 1990 season then returned in 1993 as coach of New England; took hapless Pats from 2-14 in 1992 to Super Bowl (loss to Green Bay) in 1997; left Patriots after Super Bowl to coach the New York Jets; coached 3 seasons with the Jets (1997-99), turning them from 1-15 doormat to AFC East champ in 2 years; retired again in 2000 but returned to the sidelines in 2003 as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys"
I have to disagree about RB worries for Carolina. Yes Williams is a rookie, but RB is one of the positions that rookies tend to be able to play well right away. Also Williams is strongly considered the best RB to come out of the draft. That would be pure RB not counting the added bonuses Reggie brings. Deshaun will be hurt, and even if not Williams will almost definitely win the job from him anyway.
They dont have the easiest schedule, but have a solid 8 wins i think they are a better team than 11-5 but even 11-5 will take plaing great because of the schedule. Also dont forget Keyshawn, wether you like him or not, hes a difference maker.
Well, the RB draft class was pretty weak. Williams is no Ronnie Brown. He might do well, but I still think the running back situation is a tad worrying.
This is not a knock to you Forum, but when Dallas traded for Keyshawn, he was labelled as a no good ass clown who was slow and showed no heart. But hey, now he is a Panther, he is considered a great possession reciever (which he is) and a valued free agent for the Panthers.
But I hate to say, I'm going to miss Keyshawn playing for the Cowboys, I always enjoyed watching him catch the ball.
Alright, I decided to put the big boys on Fridays.
DALLAS
Some people are up in the air about Bobby Carpenter being drafted so high, and I'm one of him. He was doing great at Ohio State until that Texas game (I think) when he left their D. It remains to be seen how soon they get him in with Ware and the other LB's. And speaking of defense, Mr. Williams just signed an extension. If Terrell Owens was on another team, that would be bad news. But it's not, so it's even more trouble for opposing teams.
Many think this might be the Tuna's last year. If not this year, then next for sure. He's got to get it done. There is a tremendous amount of pressure for this team to get deep into the playoffs. I don't think they've won a playoff game in about 10 years.
Big question mark: What if Bledsoe gets hurt? With "Big Country" Hutchinson gone, the backups are Romo and Henson. Maybe they will just throw screen passes to T.O. in that case.
Big exclamation points: Jason Witten. That guy's really emerging as an elite tight end. He's not flashy, but I get chills of Novacek every time he makes a play. And speaking of great players, who would've thought Terry Glenn would still be that calibur of a receiver at this point in his career?
Lousake Polite is the only true FB on the roster, and that guy is underrated. I saw him play at Pitt a bunch when he was in college. I think Parcells got himself a good guy at that important position.
Intangibles? Lots and lots of pressure. Bledsoe has got to get it done, or we're going to see Tuna-fied press conferences up the ying-yang.
Prediction: 10-6 (Wild Card victory at Chicago, then loss at Seattle in Divisional Playoffs)
Oh my team..heheheh...one word, they're awesome.
Ok ok, I'm joking
Offense: Offense will be really good this year. TO will require safety help all the time, which allows Whitten free reign all over the field. Jones could have an huge season if he stays healthy due to the fact that the safety help for TO, plus an linebacker help for Whitten, meaning Jones could destroy defenses with draw plays. Then, they'll have Crayton and Glenn in single coverage, which could help out the Cowboys. Overall, the defense has some balance and some very dangerous playmakers. Bledsoe did well last year when he had protection, and the offensive line is better than last year, but not great. One player that people miss is Fasano the TE. I think his TD numbers will be very good (tall and big hands)
Defense: I think this will be in the top 5 ranked defense. Canty will have a huge year starting, and if Spears can get back from injury healthy, he could also have a huge year. Ware will hopefully have a monster season with an year under his belt, it sucks losing Nguyen, but Ayodale, Bradie James, and Carpenter (i think he will do good) are very good too. Williams will be Williams and he will probably kill somebody this year, and Watkins is looking good for the FS spot. The biggest guy on this defense this year will be Newman. He got overlooked last year for the Pro Bowl, but he didnt allow a single TD pass against him, and this year in camp, nonbody has caught a pass against him, including TO. Overall, the secondary is damn good, and the defense is going to be great also, even if some get injured.
Predicition: 11-5. Tuna has a couple years left, and if the young guys can play, this will be a very good team.
( I know I know, its an big post, but I know this team to well )
i like the boys this year but i do not think they win the division but they do make the playoffs. they play in the toughest division in the nfl and that will cause them to go through some pains. another thing is all the talk that will come about 2/3 of the way through the year about the tuna is he staying or going. could this cause him to lose some of the people in the lockerroom. i do not think so but you never know.
prediction:
1 at Jaguars: win
2 Redskins: loss
3 BYE WEEK:
4 at Titans: win
5 at Eagles: win
6 Texans: win
7 Giants: win
8 at Panthers: loss
9 at Redskins: loss
10 at Cardinals: win
11 Colts: loss
12 Buccaneers: win
13 at Giants: loss
14 Saints: win
15 at Falcons: loss
16 Eagles: win
17 Lions: win
final record 10-6 (2nd in nfc east)
they lose in the nfc title game to either the panthers or the skins.
usually i would agree. but i think washington has improved just as much as Dallas. with the versatility of randle el and the biggest signing for washington in the offseason Al Saunders. watch out for that offense. look at KC without a wr the past several years.
washington has improved MORE than Dallas not as much. Randle El, Brandon Lloyd, Adam Archuleta, Al Saunders are you kidding me!?!?! if Brunell can justnot die they have one of the best teams in the entire NFL.
And I think Dallas is #3 in a 2 horse race. Washington, NY, Dallas. Although there is the crazy chance 2 wild card teams come out of the east
That'll just be an insane division with those 3 team. Handicapping the division race is next to impossible....I'd probably put Big D #2 behind NY though.
i think that all the "things" coming out of new york with shockey and burress voicing their opinions about coughlin could end up hurting them in the end. and dallas with owens is still not better than new york or washington. everyone talks about parcells. what about gibbs, williams, and saunders. this is the best head coach, off.coordinator, def. coordinator in the nfl. they also have plenty of talent.
Gibbs is not the best head coach in the NFL. Williams is not the best defensive coordinator, but I would agree what Saunders can be considered in the top 3.
It's all based on what QB's do the best. None of them are exactly concret.
I think they most easy thing is for Washington to win the division, while New York, well, I dont know, and Dallas well, if those guys hit thier stride, they will be the top team.
i did not mean that on their own they are the best at what they do. In my usual confusing way i was trying to say that this was the best combination. this the best trio. no other coaching staff in the nfl is as good as a whole. not that they were the best on their own. sorry for the confusion.
