For all the new people, here is the main issue in Halo.

The issue of mankind�s merciless and very violent destruction on the scale of complete and utter totality wought at the hands of a collective of hostile and extremely sadistic alien fanatics is slowed but not stopped. John, the other Spartans, and all of mankind�s military might is brought to bear against the unstoppable Covenant juggernaut that is their war machine but it�s run by a collective of excessively sadistic and hostile alien zealots who want us dead for a religious reason of incomprehensible magnitude. We (mankind) can�t really do much against a bunch of extraterrestrial extremists who are technologically and evolutionarily more advanced by over a thousand years.
