*sigh*
that's exactly what I didn't want ^^
I didn't want to offend anyone, just trying to tell you what I think...
and I'm SURE you know how to analyse a film if you've studied films.
I'm also sure that I didn't criticised you doing your work, did I?
what I did was just analysing what I read in this thread and giving my own opinion.
and also know that I LOVE your analysis of the Jack/Liz relationship
don't stop doing that, please
and again: I AGREE ^^ with everything
except that I don't understand to analyse a movie (didn't like this charge) because that's only partly true...

okk so im bad at this whole thinking theories thing. idk if you guys said this already but i was thinking. maybe elizabeth never really really loved will. maybe she just wanted a more exciting pirate-like life and will was half pirate and norrington wasnt exciting at all. then jack is just like a full-out pirate something shes always wanted.
also somebody said something about elizabeth seeing the black pearl in the beginning on potc1 as sorta of her seeing her destiny. i was thinking when we first see her, shes singing "drink up me hearties yo ho. yo ho yo ho a pirates life for me". maybe thats predicting her destiny. and she says meeting a pirate would be exciting.
i dont know if that made sense but i tried

yeah makes total sense. i love it. we have def skirted about that issue... "pirates life" song and all that. absolutely... makes sense to all of us, perhaps not to disney? hehe.
i'm troubled because we keep hearing rumours of a definate liz and will wedding, where i dont think Disney would release their biggest, most anticipated news (the news that will sell the most tickets) so early, ya know? i mean, i figure people will find out eventually, but is anyone out there really certain what will happen at this point?
so, does that mean the wedding doesnt affect who liz actually ends up with? or is that meant to comfort liz/will fans that the regression in 2 wont continue? or what???? is there really going to be a wedding? where did that news originally come from???
What wedding?? Can someone please verify their sources and provide links? hehe i keep getting heart attacks like 4829340823940823 times a day and the worst part is, I can't make sure if it's true or not??
don't know which wedding, but another idea came to my mind.
you all know the ending of the first one,
Mr.Swann: After all he still is a blacksmith.
Liz: No, he's a pirate.
kiss and so on ^^
she really thought that Will has developed to an exiting pirate, hasn't she? So she loves him for what that isn't really true
Of course Will HAS developed through the whole story, but not from boring+shy blacksmith to exciting+adventurous pirate. For me he is still stuck between those two.
So if Liz married Will immediately she would have found out later how boring he is. Now she has time to find out who Will really is ^^ Good thing---
But at the same time Will is becoming another person.
Arrr, I've managed myself and my thoughts into a dead end street
But I think that Liz doesn't really know WHO Will is. That's my point
Agreed or disagreed, tell my mates ^^

You know what else is interesting. The trailer for the latest movie started out with little Liz singing "yo ho yo ho..a pirates life for me" it was the same voice from the 1st movie..It's telling you that this movie is going to be the moment of realisation for her..that she WANTS to be a pirate..and yes the movie was about her realisation...Its also to remind the audience that Liz is and always has been a pirate at heart and now was the time for her to show it. Married life is NOT what she wants..she wants the PIRATE LIFE since she was a child.
I mean even the blooming TRAILER is suggesting she's not interested in marriage..It's obviously a important theme for this movie AND the next movie.

Wow this has been some exciting conversation. Where has anyone seen evidence of a Liz/Will wedding...just seems to me that If they intended Liz/Will to be married why didn't they just let 'em get married at the beginning of POTC 2.....why introduce this whole liz/Jack relationship? What was really the purpose, if they just plan on putting Liz and Will back together - to put a little more excitement in their relationship? If that was their motive, then they failed miserably, cuz all it's done is left the audience wanting more Jack and Liz not Will and Liz....they goofed big time in POTC 2 if that was their angle - they should have never made anything develop between Jack and Liz if that's not the avenue they plan to pursue in POTC 3 - as i've said time and time again - why input the whole Norrington issue of him noticing the attraction between Liz and Jack - did ya'll notice in the scene just after he explains to her how Will has been pressed ganged into Davy jones' crew how intently Liz is focused on Jack and he on her, as he asks her "Is that what you really want?" then he goes on to explain how the compass would help - how it points to what your heart most desires - Norrington is peering at them in the background and neither one pay him much attention....I love it when Norrington asks Elizabeth "You're not actually going to believe him, or you?" She totally ignores him like he's not even there, she is so focused on Jack. Then when she asks Jack to show her how it works, Norrington is like "Good Lord..." he seems so frustrated that Liz is taken in by Jack....first sign that he is picking up on their interest in each other...

You know. I totally agree with you. It's so true. I mean if they really wanted the audience to feel strongly for Will to get back with Liz then they wouldn't have given her this amazing chemistry with EVERYONES favorite character How is the audience going to really love Will being back with Liz if their favorite character loses her to Will? Its a stupid thing for Disney to do if they put her back with Will.
Also thats so true about the Norrington thing he's desperate to get attention but Liz is totally concentrated on Jack. He's holding her hand and she seems as if she is completely concentrated on what Jack is doing. He is clearly frustrated like you said.
Also that part there is important because Norrington uses what he knows about the compass and Liz's true feelings for Jack to try and shake up their relationship up a bit later on by saying
"So you never wondered how your latest fiance got onto the flying Dutchman in the first place"
Norrington knows what she really wants because he saw how she ignored him when with Jack, he saw her secretly smiling after the sexual suggestion scene and he also saw her clearly lying about not liking him in that way .. and he knows that the compass will point directly to Jack because its what her heart wants. But when she's looking at it there she thinks its telling her how Will ended up on the Dutchman..this shakes her up a bit with Jack..so Norrington's plan worked slightly. He was a sly one there..
I also think that Norrington saw the compass point to Jack right away during that scene in tortuga when Liz held it..It DID point to Jack he was ducking in front of it when it settled

okay, im confused. where did the wedding news actually come from? i thought some website had confirmed there was going to be a wedding, or perhaps it had to do with the cast list including "Elizabeth Turner" or something. ANYONE OUT THERE HAVE ANY ANSWERS?!?!?!
vegaofthelyre, im with ya. heart attack like 2846812794874887 times a day. LOL.
Yah, the flipping trailer is even rooting for Liz and Jack! GAH.
And the writer's rule, save the kiss for the end... are they really going to make us wait the whole movie to find out? because if she and will actually get married (heaven forbid) it wouldnt be till the end, then, right? so why would liz's name appear "liz turner" so soon? GAH. its all so terrible and confusing. LOL

The wedding rumor came from a comment someone made on Youtube..she said the director said this was going to happen, she then failed to give me a source to this claim..She may have confused the dates of the interview..It would make sense that the director would talk about the wedding if he was talking about MOVIE 2..she may have thought he was talking about movie 3
It cant be the ending of the movie 3 because you have to save the kiss or in this case who Liz chooses until the very end..If the wedding was at the end of the movie then they wouldn't have given it away..they also wouldnt have given turner thing awayif the wedding was the end of movie 3
So this means the wedding (if there is one) is going to happen midway or something or even just before she TRULY chooses who she wants..I seriously cant imagine Disney giving away the answer to the question raised in movie 2 before movie 3 even comes out....They said a wedding YES but just because there is a wedding doesnt mean there is going to be marriage...Liz might up and leave before the wedding..or she might get married and THEN up and leave. Which would make sense to the whole Will Davy thing that they are talking about. If she got married and stayed married then why are they talking about Will being similar to Davy? If they got maried and stayed married then that contradicts what they say about Will/Davy similarities in the next movie. It also contradicts all the character development Liz has been through since movie one. Which is PIRATE life not MARRIED life that she wants..

yeah totally... everything you said makes tons of sense...
it WOULD be a huge step for Disney to condone broken marriages... lol... i reckon Liz would leave him at the altar, or the wedding would once again be interrupted.
blah weddings are irritating. lol.
I kind of like the idea of Liz staying single. Like, they all stay friends and sail away on the pearl together, a lovely band of pirates, with both of the guys flirting madly with her. BUT i dont think that is really solving the love triangle...

I think that Bill is going to talk sense into Will...It wont end Happy with Liz..they are two completely different people even though Will turns temporarily more piratey there are more than enough hints in this movie and the first to suggest he wont be a long term pirate, mostly these involve his dad some with Jack. With Liz there are more than enough hints in movie 1 and 2 which suggest that she will be a long term pirate. The whole of Movie 2 was about her accepting the pirate life...
Disney have already condoned cheating on your fiance Liz snogging jack whilst engaged to Will.
I can actually see her not choosing either man in the end and just going her own way. She may have some raunchy scenes with Jack though but still end up on her own.
But I also think that Liz is helping Jacks character develop alot..She's making him care for her..which is a HUGE step of development for Jack. The audience are going to want to see Jack change slightly and finally be happy..Liz is the answer to this IMO.
