Will is still so much a boy. You can see how rash his decisions are, no patience, although he's learning it. I think he's very much like Luke from Star Wars. He starts out this immature, annoying kid, and then by the end, he's grown up. And I'm pulling for him to grow up.
Does anyone else feel this Rhett/Scarlett vibe with Jack and Liz? They seem to mirror that classic couple so well.

Yes, so true...and if my memory serves me correctly...Rhett Butler is like 20 years older than Scarlett...maybe older...I think Margaret Mitchell describes him as being - oh I can't remember....but Scarlett is only 16/17 the day of the BBQ and Rhett is like...42....something like that...however in real life Clark Gable was 13 years older than Vivien Leigh...so come on, Johnny, get over that age difference...besides you had a hot love scene with Christina Ricci in "the man who cried"and you are 17 years older than her...so what does it matter that you're 21 year's older than Keira...you don't look it...it was hot...the audiend wants more...so relax and go for it...
i think johnny was exaggerating. he is a pretty funny guy--- apparently he really liked improvising during filming and doing things on purpose to make kiera or orlando uncomfortable... so i think when it came down to it, if it meant Jack Sparrow got to steal more focus, or be in more scenes, or come out as a hero, he would jump at the chance.
i honestly dont think he meant the kiss itself was uncomfortable- he's a proffessional, he's used to it. I think he meant the hype and the buzz surrounding it made him uncomfortable, and he was just trying to play it off. in the wake of brangelina media madness, i think he was just trying to clarify that although the kiss is supremely hott and sexy, him and kiera have nothing going on in real life. does that make sense?
im sorry i dont get a rhett/scarlet vibe... because i think Liz is much smarter and cooler than Scarlet and would take less time to come to grips with what she wants. The story itself does seem to mirror it a ton, but i think ultimately the characters are slightly more fun. gone with the wind is so tragic and heavy. Pirates is fun, intense, hott, and fun! lol.

All I meant, Kate, was the on/off, back/forth thing is going on like it went on with Rhett and Scarlett, and they were both rebels for their time like Jack and Liz are, and that Jack and Rhett both realize first that they have so much in common with a woman who doesn't want to acknowledge how similar they are.
You're right, Liz is much smarter and more mature for her age than Scarlett was, and their relationship is a little lighter. I just picked out some similarities.
yeah no i totally see how there stories and actions seem to coincide, and i also agree that their relationship is a bit lighter... though i for one wouldnt mind if Jack forcibly caught Liz up in his arms and took her to the bedroom one night.

Kate, so scandalous!
Yeah, I wouldn't mind that either. They have a good teaser kiss moment too when Scarlett flirts with him and says she won't kiss him, and you can tell he really wants her to....so Jack and Liz.
But at least Liz isn't so puppy love with Will as Scarlett was with the pansy Ashley. She'll come to her senses long before Scarlett ever did.
yeah, and im going to give will more credit- he is slightly more cool than retarded ashley. gee ashley was the dumbest thing ever. i dont think will was THAT bad. LOL...
hahahaha thats for sure. he has action but no smarts. LOL...
poor will. its a shame he's so unlikable except to teenage girls. maybe there's our clue- liz is no longer a teenager and suddenly realizes her teeny-bopper crush on him was retarded. lol.

Ha you girls are so funny....Poor bloody stupid will...I guess we should feel sorry for him...he is pitted against the best, most sexiest, smartest Pirate EVER....too bad, so sad for Will...Oh well, no since wallowing in our grief....
And ya'll are right about stupid dumb Ashley...I never could understand what Scarlett saw in that wimpy coward....when she could have sexy, strong, all-man, Rhett...when she finally realized it...it was too late..Hope that doesn't happen to Liz...she seems alot smarter and more mature and not as self-centered as Scarlett...so maybe she'll see what's right under her nose for the taking before it's too late...

Speaking of teenyboppers, is anyone here that crazy about Legolas in Lord of the Rings? That was another Orlando Bloom role that girls made such a big to do about, and I thought he was really static. "Oh, the blonde elf with brown eyebrows that never says anything but is a fantastic shot."
Poor Orlando Bloom. He should get on his agent about being typecast.
i was thinking how they really did a lot to show that Liz had grown up a bit in 2. she's really, really different from how she is in 1, she looks different, she sounds different. she seems much older. and she doesnt smile all that much in 2. the ONLY times she smiles are faintly at the jail with Will, when Jack is telling her about the compass, when she is telling Jack why he is a good man in the curiosity scene, and right before she kisses him, for a second. (for those of you keeping score, thats Will=1, Jack=3.)
this movie is also FULL of naked lizzie jokes. like we;ve said, there had better be a cabin scene in 3... though of course it would have to be at the end, considering they always "save the kiss till the end." but if they follow a similar pattern, there will be a mid-movie teaser...
why do they feel they have to give it a bittersweet ending? i thought these movies were purely escapism... just for fun, for laughs, for high adventure... i hope they dont try to take themselves too seriously in 3. thats what i loved about 1 and 2, even though it was intense at times, all the characters always ended up laughing at themselves, not taking anything too seriously, even death.

People always take themselves too seriously, except Johnny Depp. You can tell he's having a blast.
We don't know how it will end. Maybe it won't be that bittersweet.
well orlando CLEARLY takes himself wayyyyy too seriously in these films- he's always trying to be all manly and intense, and he just comes across as cranky and whiny. my favorite moments of him were right after he was waking up from the drugged dart.
Kiera is a bit more laid back in 1. she isn't as goofy in 2. maybe it just has to do with the fact that 1 seems to be HER story, ya know? She is the main character, even though Johnny upstaged, it was her story.
2 it was all about Jack.
i think jack and gibbs do the best at not taking things to seriously. they can be melodramatic, but they always seem to be winking at the audience, saying, "hey this is a movie, not real life, so just have fun with us!"
except during the kiss, which EVERYONE takes seriously. its so flipping hott. geee....
