See now this is where I am getting worried..people are going to feel sorry for Will..even if he is a bastard and murders Liz..Jack might kill Will in anger..I have a feeling Jack is going to be offered imortality by Calypso if this happens..now that his two ties to his mortal life are dead.. Jack will probably refuse but he'll ask Calypso to make Will and Liz forget everything? That would be one of the most unselfish acts Jack has ever done..it would mean he's going to let go of who he loves to be the better man..and they get married whilst Jack watches from a distance?..I hope to GOD they dont do that..but I get the feeling they are going to milk the Jack/Liz stuff for all the can get and then just sell out and make Will/Liz end up together..in some cheesy CHEESY way.
and then they can make a movie 4 without Will and Liz being there...
I think that tia is supposed to resemble the witch Circe in the odyssey and she's also meant to resemble Calypso..
..In the odyssey Circe the witch (tia) has the power to make people forget. she does it by putting a magical drug in alcohol when she invites people into her house..towards the end of movie 2 where she handed out booze... I think it was a symbollic thing that might hint to us what will happen later..everyone drank except Liz..and Jack wasn't there to drink..maybe she and Jack will be the only ones left to remember..maybe it will just be Will and everyone else who forgets..because I was thinking..even if Liz goes back with Will and has forgotten about Jack..her heart is STILL going to yearn for the sea...she's not going to want to be stuck there..she's been like that since before she even met Jack and Will..
Or stabbing the heart may be a symbolic thing..as in Will is going to do something that will make Liz hate him forever..

This is only speculation:
I think they might both die..but Tia/Calypso will bring them back at Jacks request after denying immortality..and I also think she is going to make them forget everything...but I dont know if Liz will forget..she's the only one besides jack who DIDN'T drink the alcohol from the witch at the end..I think that might be something that is echoed at the end of movie 3 (Circe the witch invites people in to her house offeres them booze with a magical drug to make them forget their lives)
There are SO many similarities in PotC with the odyssey and its characters..
Odysseus is offered immortality in the odyssey by Calypso because she wants him to stay with her as a god, but he refuses..and Calypso then helps him return to penelope..Calypso then dies with greif apparently
Penelope is married to Odysseus. Liz is NOT married to Will remember that!. I honestly think Liz is married to Jack/pirate life(odysseus) in her heart, always has been and always will be. She has lots of suitors after her hand in marriage but she WANTS Odysseus..she never marries any of the suitors..the suitors actually are pretty horrible people in the odyssey. Norrington is pretty horrible and unworthy of Liz..and I think that Will is going to become like that..apparently he starts to become a pretty nasty character in movie 3...

How did we suddenly start thinking Liz would die? Because she's supposedly represented by Davy's heart? I can see people would think that since the 3 guys are going after it for different reasons and they've all been after Liz at one time or another, but how did we go to Liz possibly dying?

because the story of the heart is ahead of what we see happen to Liz..everything we see happen with the heart in the movie was echoed later on with Liz...EVERYTHING..and then after Jack had won it over..we see what happens next in the trilogy during movie 2 itself..and when reading the confirmed script for the next movie..YES it does happen to liz..they added that part in with the heart/Jar of dirt because the story of the heart needs to be kept ahead of what Liz does in the movies..its a forshadowing kind of thing.
The heart being stabbed by someone might not mean Liz gets stabbed literally..it might mean that she gets stabbed in the heart symbolically..as in Will does something so horrible that she will NEVER forgive him for it.
If Davy gains back the heart in movie 3 then soon after we are going to see LIZ get taken by him I bet any money on it!!..and then Jack and Will try to stop davy..I bet Jack is the one who protects Liz from Davy..whist WILL is the one who stabs the heart..
Its like what happened in the latest movie..Will got caught up trying to to what was best....and Jack came and won over his woman..by protecting her from the kraken..
and Liz might die..but GUESS who can bring people back.. Calypso HELPS odysseus save his wife after he has turned down immortality

Okay, just to make sure I'm following you 100%...
The heart was cut out of Davy Jones and hidden away.
Jack, Norrington, and Liz find the heart on the beach where Will shows up. The three of them fight for it. Jack gets it and puts it in the jar of dirt. Norrington sees it and steals it and delivers it to the EITC.
Okay, so does that mean in the first movie Norrington kind of cut Liz out of his heart? He and Jack both find it, with Will close behind. So they are all in a sense fighting for her. Jack gets it, because he is the one who wants her the most, but bottles it away like suppresses his desire for her? Norrington steals it, but he and Liz seem to have severed all ties, so I don't get that. He doesn't kidnap her or win her heart or anything like that. Other than seeing Will and Liz parallel Davy and Tia, I'm not seeing the symoblism.

I dont think that the background story has anything to do with Liz..the whole (being cut out of Davy) thing..I think Liz is just meant to resemble the chest as we first meet it in movie 2..sitting happy..her true heart is waiting to be found by the right person.
Jack actually becomes the key to her heart BEFORE we see everyone fighting over the real metal key..the fact they are all there fighting over it is basically recapping what has happend so far with movie 2 and Liz...we see why and how Jack has become the key to her heart..
EDIT - its only when we see liz run after the chest that it starts to forshadow her story

To recap: Will is supposed to be the key to liz's heart..but goes away..he's not in her life..the next man she meets is Norrington in Tortuga..he's only alone with her for a short while..then Liz meets Jack and starts to gain strong feelings for him..but they switch on and off like a light bulb (denial..fear that he's lying to her)
So by the time we See will on the beach Will is supposed to be the key t her heart..but it gets pinched by Norrington for a very short while and then Jack wins the key and keeps the key..it falls off a few times but he picks it back up..I think this was meant to be the moment where Jack had Liz with him but was struggling to realize what was more important..her or his own well being..but Jack does hold onto it..

Okay LovelyOne I've always been a fan of some of your theories and thoughts....but I'm not liking the Will killing Liz and Jack killing Will...I think that may be a little too drastic for Disney....I know they said the movie will be darker and more adult....but killing off two of the main characters ( and then Tia bringing them back.?????)....I'm not sure I'm going to like POTC 3 if everybody is left immortal....all of these threads are getting to be so detailed and so thought out - it's tiring my brain....and I don't want Liz to got back to Will. I'm ditto with what Katelovespirate says...if Liz gets killed I'm leaving the theatre...if Will and Liz marry and Jack sacrifices his love for her I will cry my eyes out....the only happy ending for me - as far as I'm concerned....is Jack and Liz sailing away together of the Black Pearl into that Horizon.....as for Will...I really don't care what happens to him at this point...I'm beginning to get frustrated...i'm starting to hope Will does turn evil and nasty...and cuts his heart out.....arggggg I don't know what I want...except that Jack and Liz must be together and end POTC 3 with an even hotter kiss than the one we saw in POTC 2.....

I don't want Jack to be immortal either.....I keep hoping, despite the leaked script...that Jack either fights his way out of the Kracken and lives....or that Lord Beckett (since he controls Davy now) will have the Kracken spit Jack back out because Beckett wants to have a showdown with the Pirates and defeat them...and what good is that if he can't face the most notorious Pirate of all, Jack Sparrow, excuse me, Captain Jack Sparrow.....
