Something about trust and TV makes me say no.
You're referring to the 21g myth. That "experiment" was actually published in 1907 by Dr. MacDougall, yet was "mysteriously" unduplicatable. Not to mention is was a horrible experiment, rife with errors, and was viewed as unreliable immediately after it was published. (The rules of "science" were different back then as there is today and there was not a significant scientific community).
This study of Dr. MacDougall was published in the New York Times and the journal of American Medicine .
The best part about all this is that his experiments (even though a swiss cheese of errors) were never duplicated. Dr. MacDougall then tried to take pictures of the soul and failed. He himself said that his experiments did not conclude anything, much less that people lost 21g at death. This arbitrary number was added later for reasons unknown personally to me, but I'm assuming it would have something to do with the mysticism surrounding that number.
Of course, this has nothing to do with your TV show, but this is the factual version of it.
Ah, MacDougall... I wonder where he is now.

Shaky. Hi. Years ago I was watching a show on t.v. where they did something very interesting. A group of doctors, scientists, specialists..etc..weighed people on their death bed. It was quite interesting. At the moment that the patients died, their wieght dropped each an equal amount. I have tried very hard to find an article on this but I can not seem to find anything online. So, for the sake of discussion, what maketh you of that my friend? Imagine, it's like in one room there is 4 beds. 4 dying people, and when they die they all loose the same amount of grams. (I cannot remember the amount, however it was a small number). I should say that the thought by the ones conducting the test was that it COULD be our souls. That our souls actually have weight. THat our soul is an actually "something" within our bodies. I so wish I could have found something on this. You will have to trust me that I saw the show and the findings. You trust me, no? *smiles*
The Thorn,
marcu
I heard about that years ago, but sorry people do not get lighter when they die. This myth has been debunked.

Lets grill a Buddhist time?

You don't have a soul, and I don't mean that personally.

Ok, if no soul, than what is the "he" that is transferred form one body to the next.
Is the "he" transferred instantaneously?
If not, where are the un-used "hes" stored?
How do we account for new "he"s?

How many waves are on the ocean, and were do they go?

how is that relevant? I can account for how waves originate, where they go, and show that each new wave is indeed a new one, not a reincarnation of an old.
Do you intend to answer my question?

Of course I will answer you. The waves are an analogy. A wave is born and lives for a while and then dies. Before the wave was born there was the ocean, and after death there is still the ocean. The wave is part of the ocean and cannot exist without it. We are part of something much like an ocean. You and I share a common entity that is all life. When you die, your body fades away forever, but your connection stays forever. You are living in many lives right now though out time. Your individual entity has many lives like flowers on a rose bush. You are the flower, not the rose bush. The entity that is all life is divided into many entities and these entities are the different people or plants and other animals though out all of eternity. This is what I believe, I cannot prove it, nor do I need too.

Then why do you believe it? What about the holes I percieve in your beliefs? (not questionsing the beliefs themselves, but taking your beliefs as fact and still finding holes)
These connections....a connection exists between two things, what is the connection when the physical carrier has been destroyed.

Do not take my belief as fact. I understand my belief on a none verbal level. Every time I put words to it, I fall short. I know what I know for reasons I cannot tell in public.

You need to stop thinking about time in a linear fashion.

Then point me to someone who does it better. I'm not taking what you say as fact. I've had my own version of Buddhism, I've moved beyond that.

Do you have a better working model than the linear one.
I need to go to bed, I have an exam tomorrow, but we'll continue, or we can take this to pms.

Prove to me that you have a soul.
Do we have a soul, and if we do, how do you know this to be true?
Give me your proof.
If you don't want yours, can I have it?
