I love KG. He's my 2nd fav current player behind Lebron. T-Wolves better make the playoffs and I hope they return to the form that they were 2 years ago.

KG is one of those players that you cant help liking. He is one of my favourites to behind Kobe, Kidd and Amare. He has such a love for the game and is one of the fiercest competitors in the league. His game is crazy, he can pretty much do anything on the floor. If he ever decides to work on a three point shot then he would be impossible to guard. I felt sorry for him last year the way the T'Wolves feel apart after a good playoff run the year before, they havent really surrounded him with much this year either so i'm betting that this is gonna be another frustrating year for him. I hope he wins a championship in his career though, preferably with the Lakers.

Yo has any one heard about that new NBA off the court dress code? I think that is really stupid and takes away from the freedom of the players in there own lives. This discussion topic is a bit off than usual but i think its kind of strange. Any one else have an opinion? and oh ya go 76ers PHI 114 NYK 99 oh ya!
I call it, "The Allen Iverson Rule" or the AI Rule for short. The rule is obviously made to help the NBA fix its bad reputation and connection to the hip hop crowd. The NBA has lost a lot of interest in the crowd that always helped it receive the most money, white middle to upper class. Ask any 40-50 year old who has supported the NBA for years yet don't care much any more and they will tell that is their reason. They may say since Jordan is gone too, but even then, Jordan appealed to this classifcation of fans. He always showed up in a suit and never really "thugged out". If he were playing today but dressed like Allen Iverson, I could almost guarantee that this crowd of fans I'm speaking of would not care to follow as much as they did in the real Jordan days. So the bottom line is, they are cleaning up their appearance.
That is just my view of what is going on. My personal opinion is a little mixed. I think that the NBA does need to clean up its public image. However, at the same time, I also see that as up to the players and their personalities. Example, Lebron is a class act so far. Not only does he not have a clean record, but he does often show up with this "professional" dress code already. However, by implimenting a dress code, it almost blends all the players together so it is harder to really distinguish who is being professional on their own, and who is doing it because they don't want their money takin away. Then again, one reason I support the dress code is that it is their job, and as in many occupations, it is alright to have a dress code. With the millions of dollars the players get paid, I don't think it is too much to ask to (in a way) 'follow company policy.' Additionally, I think that the dress codes should be determined by the teams but I can see how some players would for ridiculous reasons, want to be on a team where they could wear whatever.
While we're on this issue of dress code, I'd like to say one thing that I thought should have been added to the dress code. MAKE THEM TUCK IN THEIR F*CKING JERSEYS! Maybe its just me, but it just bugs me seeing players play with their jerseys untucked and flopping around. When I first started playing basketball, refs made us tuck in our jerseys. Does anybody else think it makes the players just look lazy when they don't wear their jerseys the way it has always been?
Overall, I have to agree with Adam Corolla(sp?) with the real way the NBA should deal with improving the leagues image. MAKE THE PLAYERS STOP RAPING PEOPLE! I think that was a major generalization but the point is that too many players get in legal trouble.

As for the dress code (always good to read your opinions Myth) i think that its not too much to ask that they smarten up a bit for the good of the game. Some may see it as the big corporation trying to control but its not like they have to abide by these rules in their own time, just on company time. Like Myth said lots of workplaces have a dress code, so this is the NBA's version.

I like Grant Hill's, Phil Jackson's and especially Lebron's statement. As I said in my opinion above, Lebron is a class act. Stephen Jackson seems most upset because he's calling the necklace thing racist. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2197001

Oh, here is another subject I'd like to bring up. I went to the Blazers-Clippers preseason game last night, and Telfair looked amazing. His stats don't show what he did for the Blazers. First, the most impressive thing was how much he improved his D. He only got 2 steals on record but was the cause for several turn overs. He made them lose the ball out of bounds by just man to man defense. He even got Ewing a 10 second backcourt violation. His pressure was so strong that he would repeatedly back up their PG (whether Ewing or Cassell) to the half court line even after they originally dribbled it up to the 3. His control of the offense also looked great. He drove in a lot and would either drop it off for an easy dunk after drawing the double or get fouled and get to the line. His biggest flaw seemed to be his pull up jumper. If he can perfect that, watch out. Also the Blazers rookie Sergei Monia (drafted 2004) looked really good. He may become very useful for the Blazers immediately as well.

Who won the game Myth?
lol at the dress code comments. The one that made me laugh most was Melvin Ely of the Bobcats who had this gem "I'm actually glad they're doing it because some people come to these games looking wrong." Stephen Jackson is crazy, how is the no jewellery rule racist? Seriously Stephen the Mr T look went out and should have stayed out along time ago. Wally Szczerbiak needs to be told that the last thing he is is a trend setter.
The more i hear about these players bitching the more i'm in favour of the rule, remember the good old days when you'd see MJ walking from his Ferrari to the arena in his suit? They looked professional then, now you've got Iverson looking like a 15yr old kid in clothes that dont even fit. LeBron has a knack for saying the right things, either he has some great PR staff or he really is the second coming of MJ.
One thing i feel i have to bring up is the officiating. Seems every year they want to crack down on the physical play and make it into a free throw contest. I know thats not what i want to see every game and if they are worried about ratings then here is a suggestion - LET THEM PLAY THE GAME! I cant imagine any fan of the NBA wanting to hear referee's whistles every trip down the court. Sorry i had to get that off my chest.

the only dress code should be the one on the court.... what the players do off it should be their own business. if players want to look smart and wear a suit? let them do so. if players wanna look like scruffy bastards? again, let them do so. its basketball we wanna watch, not 6ft+ guys in suits talking.
I personally think the dress code is stupid, let the players wear what they want to wear. I just find it funny with the NBA riding the whole 'hip hop' culture the last 4-5 years and then all of a sudden "no no, suits and ties, suits and ties." Although I do find it funny to see Iverson and Jackson acting like the whole world is coming to an end.

Im looking forward to seeing some of the players taking it to the extreme and making a statement. I can see Artest turning up in a pimp suit with a feather in his hat.

Clippers destroyed the Blazers. However, preseason games don't mean shit. The only thing good to focus on during preseason is the players in development. Other than that, you can't hardly predict anything based on the pre-season.
Ely and Szczerbiak made me think the same thing you mentioned.
The officiating is something always in dispute. Its hard to find the middle ground as to where the refs should call things. When they let them play the game without calling fouls, the defense becomes really really tough and then the scores lower and the pace of the game slows down. However, as you mentioned, if they call fouls easier, they don't get to "play the game" and it goes to the free throw line more. Its all a matter of preference. I personally will take the free throws if it means that the offense can run faster. I'm a major defense guy, but I prefer defense that is good because they don't let people by because they keep up with their man, not because they can out push them. So pretty much I'm fine with the way they called things last year.

Well, from what i've heard they are cracking down even harder this year on touch fouls, which i find really frustrating. I agree you should play defense by moving your feet instead of reaching but some officials take that way too far. Before you know it we're gonna have games that go on all day because of the free throw shooting. They put in a rule to stop the "hack-a-snaq" so its obvious they want to keep the game flowing so why not ease up on the ticky tack foul calling? Surely they want to market the game as an exciting free flowing spectacle. I personally dont mind seeing the 90's Knicks defense or the bad boy Pistons of the late 80's, there has always been physical and finesse teams in the NBA.
