First off, I would like to think that Steve Irwin did a ton more for wildlife than he might have originally hoped. He became a name many the world over knew. While not everythign was shiny, most of what he did was in the best interest of animals at heart.
While we have reached the end of what we will see from him, I believe he has done what he set out to do, get the world interested in some form or another about the importance of wildlife.
I've been watching the animal planet Crocodile Hunter re-runs now that have been pretty steady fr some time. I watched him hold a snake and get bit three of four times by it and not try to pull it off, simply wait for it to let go.
Then a question arose.... Nothing he did harmed the animals at all. What if he knew he had a slim chance of living and that would only happen if they cut the bull ray's tail? Is it a stretch to think he might have known his time was up and he can save one more animal by pulling the barb out himself instead of someone cutting it to try for the slim chance of saving his life?
I don't know, I'm sure only he does, but it is something to think about, too.
Well the funeral was a secret and the family have yet to disclose the actual site of the grave... so its possible.
However I think it is far more likely that they fed it to all the US talkshow hosts who have apparently been lining up to get an interview with the Widow Irwin. The act bought her a few days peace while the vultures... oops, I mean kings and queens of talkshow, were distracted.
