The twelve gates were twelve pearls: each individual gate was of one pearl. And the street of the city was pure gold, like transparent glass.
Gold has an impurity in it (or flaw) that gives it its color. But it is actually clear once this impurity is removed.
Gold can be beaten into a transparent gold foil (0.00013 mm thick) over 500 times thinner than a human hair. Dentistry uses about 7% of the gold produced. Here it is alloyed with other metals (such as copper, silver, platinum and palladium) for restorations, partial dentures, bridges and inlays.

This describes the effect of particles of gold mixing with a silicon-based substance, creating a prismatic and light-enhancing type of porcelain.
Gold in it's pure form is only transparent in gas or plasma form, and neither of those are suitable to walk on (and both rather lethal).
But God is God and He can make gold both transparent and capable of sustaining enormous weight. Did you forget? God made everything that you see from nothing....

God is God so he can alter whatever he wants? Turn Coke into Pepsi, make pigs fly and make hell freezing over?
Rather easy ain't it, dismissing the responsibility of every good or bad event to some vague (and unproved) entity in any way that suits you.
Don't you ever get the feeling that you yourself could make more out of life if you were without this blinding faith?

First of, weren't the Hebrews the first to change their perception of the word of God, as they allowed common sense along with religion?
Second, can you answer, or even discuss these matters in your own words, feelings and opinions without merely quoting biblical passages?
