My Newest Script- Finding Middle Earth: The Life of John Ronald Reuel Tolkien
Synpois of Finding Middle Earth: The Life of John Ronald Reuel Tolkien
From his early orphaned childhood to his horrfic experices in World War One to the writing of his famous fantasy trilogy. Finding Middle Earth is about the man behind the famous books and how over his 81 years John Ronald Reuel Tolkien changed the genre of fantasy forever. And thus being remembered as well as been refred to as the "Father of modern fantasy literature".
Credits open with the New Line Cinema logo and dramatic music.
Fade In: It is a beautiful summer`s morning, the grass is fresh and cut, the sky is smileing a bright blue and not a single grey cloud can be found amoug the richly filled sky. All around the area men and women gather around to morn the life of a great man and writer. Ahead of the crowd of morning people is a tall young man he is dressed in a black suit and is holding a book in his hand. He goes over to the grave of his recently decaesed father John Ronald Reuel Tolkien. The man`s name is Christopher Tolkien.
Christopher Tolkien: Hello Father you got your wish of where to buried right next to mother and I see you had the name Beren enscriped upone your grave and Lúthien enscriped upone mother`s grave. Well I guess there are no more adeventures for me my part in this tale is over, your work will never be finshed, which is a shame because the world will never get to read and hear of the many more adventures in Middle Earth. But at least they will always remember your name. It is time for the world to know what kind of man you really were, that within it self is a tale to tell, well with any story I will start from the beginning.
Switch to a shot where a a mother is holding a baby and a man is right next to her smiling. Also the words 1892 Bloemfontein, Orange Free State come up. The mother`s name is Mabel née Suffield and the father`s name is Arthur Reuel Tolkien.
Mabel Suffield: He is beatiful, what should we call him.
Arthur Tolkien: I was thinking John.
Mabel Suffield: I like that how about John Ronald Reuel Tolkien.
Then switch to a scene inside a church and a priest is holding the young baby that is John Ronald Reuel Tolkien and is baptising him.
Priest: In the name of the father, and of the son and of the Holy sprit I baptise you
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien.

im a creative writer so i'm vry critical by the way. your firs mistake is christopher's speech. so much informtion that would never be said in that way. just standing at his grave saying: "i see you have this enscribed because....." it doesn't work. a camera shot from his mother
's grave saying "luthien" over to tolkiens grave saying "beren" would suffice.
plus, why would he tell his father's grave the story of his father's life? rethink this, start from the beginning, with tolkien when he was younger. you can then rotate the character narrative to christopher later. sometimes, convention works! it's a GREAT idea though! you should be proud!

I think it would work fine. It makes things much more personal to have christopher saying it, and its his own creative opinion on how he wants the monologue to go. I like the flash back type feel.

well in that case you do need to revise it. you wouldnt stand at a grave and say "you did this etc" its obvius youre trying to get information across to the audience. you should be more subtle about it. experiment. thats the best way to write!

Eh....I doubt this would go down, or at least not at this time....
And is it just me, or does your baptismal opening seem a little Godfather-esque?

A movie about Tolkien may actually be pretty good. Tolkien was in WWI so that would add excitement plus his love life and the fact he obeyed his father's wishes to wait before getting married.
