something else to consider is he didnt even act like he knew R2D2 when he first saw him in ANH.Lucas obviously wasnt thinking at all when he made the prequals.
this is why the prequels are hard to watch we all know that its an afterthought
the reason Kenobi doesnt recognise 3p0 or R2 because in 1977 he didnt
thats alll it is
thats why theres no mention of the Sith,no apperance by Palpatine,no drama for Vader,no mention of Qui Gon or Yoda because its all an afterthought
the previous post about Mr Parkers comment has a few words missing and wasnt very clear so............
this is why the prequels are hard to watch as some of us know its all an afterthought
the reason Kenobi doesnt recognise 3p0 or R2 is because in 1977 he didnt know who they were
ive always taken R2s claims as being Obi Wans property as a way of getting Luke to take him to Kenobi
another cock up by Beardy
so thats why theres no mention of the Sith,
no apperance by Palpatine,
no real drama for Vader which is odd considering he was the focus of the PT...oh yeah i forgot Lucas convenient claim that the OT was about "the kids"... pull the other one George
and no mention of Qui Gon or Yoda........because its all an afterthought
it wasnt all mapped out as some grand saga in 75
it was just the one flick
I don't think he recognizes them at first cause there are thousands of protocol and astrmech droids around, he doesn't actual clue in until they are in bens hut once R2 plays the message. But what is Ben going to say? Hey Luke this R2 unit belonged to your mother and your father and c3po was built by your father. what bloody purpose would of that of served? Palpatine didn't appear but they did mention him. there was no reason for him to appear.
Watching all the movies now, Vader is the focus in them all. his whole story is told and ends with him bringing balance to the force and dying.
Why would Qui gon be mentioned at all? and there was no need for yoda to be mentioned in EP IV
