Besides, he's Marvel's personal lot device. Classic Doop was the only one in the handbook to get full 7's in each category in the Marvel handbook. The ONLY one.

Indeed, I never got a chance to read the issue but didn't Doop easily go toe to toe with Thor? I know they clashed

Yeah, Doop "stalemated" Thor, though I don't recall that much power useage on either side.
