POTC won in the world wide totals for the first several days. The problem is theres a lot of different stupid records that could be claimed. All that really matters is the worldwide total when they are both done with. I will at least say POTC 3 wasnt anywhere as bad as SM 3 was.

Just saw Pirates 3 and I enjoyed every second of it, bar the first 5 minutes. It's over the top, tongue in cheek and contrived as hell, but its OTT tongue in cheek, contrived material to enjoy. This places it above my reception of Spiderman 3.

Spider Man made 148 Million opening weekend.
Shrek made 122-123 Million and
Pirates of the Carribean made 112.5 Million.

SO it would seem that Shrek was and is just as big a contender as Spider and Pirates.

I saw both movies and I thought Pirates was the best of the two. I could go see Pirates again, but I would'nt want to sit through Spider-Man again, which breaks my heart to say. sad

I fell asleep half way through...
I woke up and it still wasn't over...my brother was confused as hell and he didn't even fall asleep.
ugh...
Johnny Depp was good at some parts...
but holy crap I waisted 3 hours of my life on that.

I watched Spiderman 3 twice and really enjoyed it. I don't see why everyone hates the spiderman trilogy. The first two were actually very critically acclaimed.

Cool avatar with the eye monster from "Pan's Labyrinth". A great movie and i didn't care that it was a "Chronicles of Narnia" ripoff, i thought it a great movie.

But i paid 6 bucks for "Pirates 3". Matinee.

I feel the same way about spiderman3, but i actually like pirates3 and didnt like the previous 2

where did you get those numbers. Pirates would have jumped a lot over the past week for them to be true. Last I heard it was at $773 mill after the weekend and SM3 was around $869

and yes, last time i heard Pirates was at around $690, it has jumped alot, but I still reckon it can go further.

People are only going to spiderman bc the first 2 were good. The third one was a rediculous waste of time.

However, pirates is actually fun to sit through (I have twice). The only reason people say they didn't like it is bc they didn't understand the plot and it confused them. Thats a dumb reason to not like the movie.....it doesn't mean the movie is bad, it means your a dumbass.

and then there were the people who complained that Jack wasn't the main character and that he didnt have enough screen time.

thats stupid and ridiculous

pirates will win the box ofice because eventually word will get around that spiderman 3 SUCKS and pirates will keep making money.

It's dumb to not like a movie b/c the PLOT is a mess, which is one of the main parts of a movie?

I'd say it's ridiculous to come to that conclusion.
