Spider-man 3 is gona make a junkload of money, even more than POTC3. POTC3 is gonna be good, sure, I'm not a hater, I like those movies, but I honestly doubt they'll beat spidey 3.
Just look around your community. Do you see anything advertising POTC3? Nope. Spider-man 3 is everywhere.
Also, no one I know even knows about POTC3. They know they're making a third one, sure, but no one knows what its about, or when it's coming out. Spider-man 3, however, has a 90% awareness level and is expected to easily make over $100 mil in the box office in its opening weekend. No big suprise there, it's what I expected

Spiderman 3's first showing is waaaay in front of Pirates Carribbean in terms of the Summer schedule, so what is the point of Bruckheimer and co. spending another 100m on promotion, trying to get an audience that will most likely see both movies anyway?
After Spiderman 3 hits (hasn't happened in the UK yet), then you'll expect to see as much Pirates of the Carribbean advertisments as Spiderman.
Plus, 100m isn't actually very hard to achieve for the big summer movies.

i don't really understand why mr parker hates the spiderman movies so much. organic webs? in current continuity, spiderman HAS organic webs (thanks alot, JMS!). literally hundreds of issues of spiderman centering on mary jane/aunt may and how peter being spiderman affects them have been published.
Maybe us Brits are simply less susceptible to advertising then. However, if what you say is even half true, 25 days is still enough time to generate a mass of publicity.
Maybe it is. But I have not seen much promotion for Spiderman 3 other than the odd Maguire/Dunst interview on talk shows, yet I have seen some. There's still time for Pirates.
