Jar Jar really impacted the story in the prequels because he is the one who gave Chancellor Palpatine emergency powers in AOTC. It is sort of funny, if Jar Jar never existed, the Empire may have never started, which gives fans an even larger reason to hate him.
I agree with what you said about Syfo Dyas...the way he was talked about made it seem like it was Qui-Gon when Obi-Wan said his old master, and killed 10 years ago. Perhaps the story would have been better off if it was Qui-Gon in the first place.
Anakin is just around 20 years old, he has had quite a lot of issues, it is no surprise he acts the way he does. He is still a pleasant person, as well as a Jedi so I don't see why he couldn't get with a former queen, love is love. I don't think he killed the Tusken raiders for fun, he was in a rage after they pretty much killed his mother. Wouldn't you do the same if you could after a loved one dies at the hands of savages you could easily destroy?
As a viewer I have to kinda understand/feel why a bright person like Padme falls for the whiny brat. All we see in AOTC are his bad traits... what's the positive trait? That he was cute as a kid and gave Padme a jappor snippet? She's not e pedophile I hope... because that would even make it worse.
The love story between Anakin and Padme is crucial for the saga. But I think we fairly argue that it was poorly done. The few minutes of romance in ESB is by far more romantic than all of ESB and ROTS together.
I agree that some of it was corny but I didn't think it was terrible. They liked each other, people don't always have to have something extravagant about themselves to attract another, love works in funny ways, especially in movie scripts. Hahaha.
The scene towards the beginning of ROTS was bad IMO, when Anakin said something like: "No, because I am so in love with you." Not only did Padme look terrible for whatever reason but the lines make me cringe every time.
It is possible that Anakin possible reminded Padme of a more stable pleasant era before systems started breaking off, we will never know for sure. They seem to get along bouncing around on the Shaak things and that eventually lead to something else.
A five year difference isn't so bad really between a couple, even 10 is acceptable depending on the age of the younger.
i dont understand why padme loves anakin at the end of episode III lets face it, "i killed them, i killed them all, and not just the men, but the women, and the children." Isn't really the kind of line you would hear from the nice guy you would want to settle down with... im supposing, if thats true, in order to find a hot girl to mary, i gotta start killing off whole villages?
Exactly my point though... it usually is the turning point to say: OMG, this guy is a total freak. And then he starts stalking and going beserk.... Well, Anakin did the latter...
Sometimes a girl likes nothing more than to try to fix a broken man.
I find it funny that Padme freaked out when Kenobi told her Anakin killed younglings, but when she found out Anakin killed sand people, she didn't seem to care much. Why? RACIST. lol
I would have to say Padme felt for Anakin because he lost his mother in his own arms, also, the fact being the Tuskens are total jerks doesn't help in her feeling for them...
And don't forget Padme's not FROM Tatooine... She prolly never saw one. So all she hears is her future boy friend, the great Jedi, slaughter other sentient creatures 'like animals, because they are animals.' Frankly, that a girl's cue to leave.
Don't forget Cliegg lars spoke of the sand people to Anakin and Padme, about what they did to Shmi, how they walk like men but are animals, etc.
If I wasn't familiar with a type of species and if they kidnapped the mom of someone I was close to etc. And if some local says some bad things about that species, I would take these more-than-hints and assume they were not a gentle race for the most part.
Don't you love how in the orignal star trek they always run into these "superiorly evolved races" that say they must destroy the enterprise and kill everyone on board because they are a primitive and violent race?
The Tuskens captured poor Shmi and tortured her to her death. They shouldn't be suprised her jedi-in-traning son gets pissed and uses his powers to wack them all.
