I'm sure this game will have a longer play time than soul calibur 3.. but I dont think by that much... unless namco can find some mess and patch it within the upcoming months
I was so disappointed in SCIII, the funnest thing about that game was the character creation mode, imo. I will say that whole controllin your fall thing was good, tho. It helped to avoid juggles unlike Tekken, which you opponent can juggle you to death, that's why I always put SC high above Tekken.

Honestly, I don't like Nightmare. He's powerful, sure, but so damn slow. I'd rather use a character that can do a lot of quick strikes and move in and out quickly.
I use Taki the most (well, usually my custom character that uses her style); also Xianghua and Kilik a lot.
SC4 has one advantage so far over SC3, and that is, that although the Ivy infinite was discovered, that can be secluded and banned. However in SC3, they discovered VCing, and that completely made the game ridiculous on so many lvls.
SC4 just requires some getting used to, the SS looks really toned down, seemingly as though SC4 is following suite in nerfing movements just like Tekken 6 did.
So we will just have to wait and find out, The Sisters so far look really strong, and Mitsu looks really strong as well, however these characters are not as powerful as their SC3 counterparts, they have been watered down. The fact that Sieg and Nightmare have been improved quite a bit from SC3 gives me hope.
Xianghua is not the overpowered character she once was, but she just needs to be played with more effort now, and alot of people still consider her strong.
Taki got spanked in SC4, she's definitely not as good as her SC3 counterpart, while Amy seems to be the new Xianghua.
So far, it's not too bad, however after some tournaments, we'll start to see how it really goes. Balance although good, I cannot emphasize this enough...is severely, and I mean, severely overrated on so many standards.
SC4 just needs to show that it has a game engine that is unique enough for it keep on getting play, and enough playable characters to keep it enjoyable and competitive. I am hoping that SC4 does make a solid grade, because from SC1 to SC2, you lost quite a bit of players, then from SC2 to SC3, it dropped like a weight tank.
I haven't really gotten to play SC4 a whole lot, since I am very busy, however so far, it looks pretty solid. Mitsu's 2k attacks are definitely nerfed from his SC3, but they are still very effective, and his Wakeup game has always, always been his strongest point, I guess I'm glad that I've played a character who has consistently been solid in the SC series.
I must say, Tira's been much improved since SC3. I'm seriously considering making her one of my mains this time around. The split personalities are great.

Thats fair enough, I know what you mean when you say slow, but when you can knock a quarter of your enemies health off in a blow (or half which is the case with my Custom nightmare) it does not bother me so much and if I can keep them at range which isnt always so hard when you time using the moves and knockdowns.
indeed.. I'm glad variable cancel is nowhere to be found.. I just dont care for the ground game much in this one, because you can just press guard and insta-block everything as soon as you fall (which makes performing a back-parry absolutely pointless)
I'm just hoping that better strategies develop for kilik (my main), because with the new movement slowing he's lost alot of what made his 8-way attacks good, combined with some of the issues I notice with tracking make it hard to keep consistent
Amy?.. I thought Scheherazade would be better due to her longer limbs hehe.. I also keep hearing that Nightmare isnt so great
remodeled, not reskinned.. a skin would mean she'd have to have the exact same model recolored.. and I do think its silly that they did that , but I'm sure its for the best (when it comes to balance)
Yeah, sure, you can knock off a ton of damage at once, but that's no good if you're getting hit so quick that it's hard to get a hit in yourself or if your opponent can easily dodge it, you know?
Yeah, I'm thoroughly enjoying it.
We should play against each other.
I'd've written a longer reply to your message last night but GK and I were getting ready to beat the crap out of each other
He's pretty crazy, a bit on the weak side defense-wise but him, Talim and Kilik are my favorites, I suck with swords in this game. PRetty much anyone who is slow, everyone says Cervantes is a beast but I suck with him.
