No, my point was that even if they HAD product placement, it wouldn't have been more commercial.

Transformers, G.I. Joe etc; the cartoons were essentially 30 minute toy commercials.

They also didn't cost the budget of an emerging 3rd world nation.

Alpha, dog, ok; to switch gears, what in Hades did you expect GIjoe '09 to be? soap-like perhaps..? or a romantic comedy revolving around a snake eyes/storm shadow closet relationship. maybe a ‘10 Academy Award nominee for best picture. I mean, it’s GIjoe, for zeus’ sake. It’s not that deep. It’s not suppose to be. it’s meant to be fun. it’s meant to be pure unadulterated entertainment, and that’s it, dookie.

I have to agree with AC on this one. GI Joes was a horrible movie. Just because the concept is ridiculous doesn't mean they can't make a cool movie out of it. Ever see the first transformers? yeah it had flaws, but it was entertaining

And i disagree with AC's call on it. It's not casablanca, it's gijoe for crissake, lol.

and i regretably saw the 1st tranformers in theatres, yes. (i even the 2nd one as well, which was just, god; a dozen levels worse) and gijoe was a far more an entertaining summer popcorn flik than Tr.1 was, to me. i thought the movie was sexy meaning it just oozed coolness with the gadgets, and the editing and the visuals made the movie a great piece of eye candy.

imo, to me, i think it was the best summer blockbuster of 2009.

The failure is that you're assuming I dislike it because it's not an Academy Award winning movie.

No, it was just completely f*cking horrible. It was despicable even for a mindless popcorn movie.

No, not at all. I knew it would be shit, and I knew you'd get people claiming it's "just fun.". Zombieland was just fun and simple; you can be fun and simple without being completely shit and having compromised all artistic integrity.

Fun doesn't have to be something you "turn your brain off" to like.

If I have to turn my brain off, then turn off the cashiers and let me watch it for free. If I'm gonna pay, I want quality, not shit.

Avatar was simple. You're telling me G.I. Joe was a better Summer blockbuster than that?

erm I think your missing the point,What's wrong with ''turning your brain off " sometimes? You cant go into a movielike "GI JOE" and expect it too be a deep and meaningful movie

smile I myself, Find it hard to beleve a person can not find this movie at LEAST entertaining

Because I don't think I should have to retard myself up just to enjoy a movie. If I have to do that, the director hasn't done his job properly.

It's not a matter of expecting Shakespearean dialogue or plot, because I'm not like that. It's because G.I. Joe was a disgusting excuse for a movie.

I LOVE me some simple eye candy and mindless explosion movies. I probably enjoy them just as much as the intellectual drama. However, just because you agree to watch one those mindless joy ride movies and turn your brain off doesn't mean bad movies still exist. GI JOE, for me could never be good, regardless of how brain dead i am. It's not even fun to look at.

IMO the director for GI JOE did do his job properly and presented a great action flick, and i didn't have to retard myself up to enjoy it.
Now TF2 on the other hand i went in with low expectations and came out very disappointed, that was the worst movie i have seen in a while. to enjoy that you'd have to get a lobotomy then see it.

Wrong. Both movies sucked. GI Joes more so than Transformers 2. The dialogue in that movie was just beyond horrendous, to the point where I swear to god I thought the two main villains were going to burst out into diabolical laughter after discussing their evil plan.

And thats not even mentioning the terrible acting and special effects. So what's left? The soundtrack. Oh wait, that sucked too.

erm So if a movie doesn't make you think,it means the director hasn't done his job properly......... smile Wrong,If a movie is entertaining the director has done his job

Second of all,I would just like to state, that I really enjoy movies that make you think, although not too much like syndecohe New york smile But thats another story, what I'm saying is that you can also enjoy movies that DONT make you think,For instance,On a friday night after a long weeks work, you grab some beers and sit down too watch a movie....Do you want to really think too much then? No,A movie like GI JOE is an exellent choice,Say your sitting there on a nice quiet Sunday afternoon, where you are in a certain mood for thinking and concentrating,A ''thinking'' movie is a good choice,My Advice too you is grab a six pack off beer, forget good dialogue and a smart plot/story and..................................................... smile Enjoy the movie

smile Thanks,for your time

GI Joe was cheesy as hell. The acting and casting were horrid. But it wasn't as bad as some here are saying it is. It's a ****ing action flick, why analyze it?

That's your opinion which is fine, but for me the gi joe soundtrack was the best score for 2009, Alan Silvestri nailed it, it was way better than Terminator salvation, star trek, TF2 and wolverine.

In my opinion, you're mistaking my fact for an opinion. I respect your opinion on my fact being an opinion, but am forced to disagree nonetheless.

Spartan, there's no fact here.

Personal preference is not fact, it's opinion. Undeniable truth is fact. It's not undeniable truth that these movies suck, if it was, people couldn't say they liked them.

There are no facts in "your opinion". Something is a fact or it's not a fact. If it's not a fact, it's an opinion. You can't have the opinion that something is a fact. It either is or it isn't.

Water is wet, fact. The Sun is hot, fact.

What do you mean? I never said any of that.

Firstly, I don't need movies to make me "think". I think anyway, it's healthy and stops you being an idiot (Not YOU specificially).

Secondly, exactly. The director did his job well if YOU think it was entertaining. I don't think that a director is good if the work he puts out requires YOU to make effort to think LESS, however.

Third, I don't "grab beers" and do anything. I'm not someone who feels that his brain gets stressed from a day of using it. You're not making a good case for yourself. You openly say you don't like thinking much.
