Well it's been confirmed on the FA website that Mr Fabio Capello is the new england manager and has a 4 and a ahfl year contract.
First reportly to be offered a £4million per year contract, it looks now to be a £6.5m per year...ouch, bet the FA wished they didn't say they wanted him before speaking to him.
I don't know much about the Italian, his CV seems to be excellent but he did become a common name for me when he dropped Beckham from the REAL set-up altogether as he went to sign for Galaxy.
They are looking into appointing at least 1 englishmen to be invovled in the backroom staff, doubt it though.
Just thought we could discuss about the guy and where you thik England will go with him at the helm.
I personally think it'll be the same, round about the quarter finals of every tournament and have at least 1 disaster qualifying game.
A point which was also raised on the radio, was who will be the England captain now? I don't feel Terry is a great National captain, Gerrard either. Just give it to Rooney for a laugh.

Hard to tell what will happen, Real played boring but effective football when he was there, maybe thats what England need, that exta Italian edge, to hold the ball when they are in the lead instead of stop playing and let the opponents in.
I heard some interviews on the radio from players who played under him, sounds promising especially the bit Marcel Desaille mentioned, that if he doesn“t think your working hard for the team it doesn“t matter who you are your out, that should be interesting.
yup shame for Becks, think he is only 1 cap away from 100. nightmare
The FA didnt want a repeat of the Mclaren era with an Englishman, The only real englishmen who they would look at would be Harry Redknapp, but when you have high profile names such as Mourinho and Capello, the englishmen wont get a shout in.

I just hope England don“t start playing like the cheating Italians, mind you diving, holding, time wasting, Ref pressurising & provoking red cards is part of the modern game I suppose
Heard he had his official introduction today, spoke a few words in English.
Bassically said he wanted to take England to the top, where they belong.
Starting english lessons and by the end of a month of that he says he should have mastered it....ok doke.

From what I've heard he's never managed an international team, I wonder what he's going to make of the premiership managers not allowing players to attend international training sessions? Also, he can speak very little English - there's very Little you can get across using diagrams alone.

In the end I think he will get sick of the arrogance of the English team, and then quit...
...this would be about 3 years down the line tho

i think he'll realise what a poor pool of players he has to work with...wont win anything...will get hounded out of the job by the frenzied media and then launch a scathing attack on English football and perhaps make a tiny dent in the mentallity of "England deserve to win" that pervades the media and thus the public
Fair doos they won the world cup on home soil....so did France but at least they showed it wasnt a fluke and won the Euro's the following 2 years later.
I thought England was back on track to get another home tournament win at Euro 96....but the semis was it for them, great run though....great team too.
