I think there were a lot of "good" movies in 2007, but i think Rescue Dawn and American Gangster were the best (Christian Bale and Denzel Washington may have had something to do with this). Juno is an excellent feel good movie that I'd probably rank third.
That said, there were some good indie films in 2007 - Waitress, Chalk, I'm Not There
I felt as though Rescue Dawn was pretty overrated.
With what I had been hearing from some of you guys on KMC, I thought it was going to be among Bale's best work. I thought he did a decent job, but honestly he could've done a lot better.
The movie itself was pretty average. Nothing special at all. By no means bad, but still... just mediocre.
Also: Is Mr. Brooks any good? I've been kind of curious about it. What do you guys think?
Surprisingly i agree with most of the academy's nominations this year.
