Alright, so I have some things to get off my chest. It’s nothing I haven’t said 1000 times already, but, I feel nonetheless as a independent filmmaker myself, I gotta stand up for George. Some of you guys have no idea the amount of work and effort that goes into making movies. And to accuse Lucas of ruining his own creation is really unnecessary. Think about it. If you enjoy writing stories for example, you’re going to write a story the way you want it right? And to the best of your abilities.
So, for example, everyone hates Walmart and Microsoft, yet you can’t live without them. You know that if you should crawl out of bed tomorrow and all of the sudden there was no Walmart and Microsoft, you’d freak out.
Just like you all claim to hate and despise Lucas. Star Wars is ruined you say, but…here you are, on a Star Wars forum with your Star Wars avatars and signatures and the whole works. So what if Lucas isn’t great with dialogue. Is he expected to be perfect? Are you perfect? I’m sure some of you guys have weaknesses too. One might not be a great artist, but could be a great writer. One might not be a great writer, but a good artist. That’s what Lucas is. He’s a visual artist who tells his stories visually. He’s not perfect, and can’t be expected to be perfect either. Some of guys also make him out to be a fat rich lazy slob, as if he threw the prequels together in 6 months just to rake in cash. What rock have you guys been living under? Georgie boy spent 9 whole years, working 18 hours almost every day. You think he went through all that work to purposely try and upset all you people and ruin Star Wars? And, as a independent filmmaker myself, CGI is not a cop out. You have no idea the amount of work, knowledge and talent that is needed to accomplish CGI. It’s not thrown together. There’s a reason why these things take 3 years to make. Are the prequels better movies than the originals? Probably not. But are they at least fun to watch? Absolutely. If you can learn to be normal human beings, and not fuss over every last flaw, there’s a lot to like about the newer ones. Lucas is just a filmmaker. He tries his best to entertain, so quit making him out to be some sinister villain who set out to rape your childhoods.
I’m sure you all hate Star Wars so much, but don’t kid yourselves. You like it more than you think. You know that with each prequel, you stood in line longer than you typically would for any other movie so you could see a new chapter on the big screen. You know that back in March of 2005, you sat down and watched an entire episode of “The OC” just to get your first glimpse of the ROTS trailer, and you know come August, you’ll be in line too see the “The Clone Wars” too. So, so much for it being ruined. You may hate Lucas and Star Wars or so you say…but you’ll still keep seeing them. You’ll tune in on a weekly basis to watch the live action series with your eyes wide open the whole time. Even if there should be an Episode 7, 8 and 9, you know you’d be the first in line. Why? Because you like them more than you think you do.
Umm, you said you were away from JP for like 6 months. I assumed you were connected to her in some way, and 6 months is a long time. I figured the Military would be a good reason to be away from a loved one for so long.
On the other hand, if you would be so kind as to just tell us that would be appreciated if you so desire to do so.
