1. It was a 911 operator, not a police officer.

2. He was on his property the entire time. He can have a gun on his property.

I wasn't there, was I?

If his account of the situation is right it is pretty much self defense.

If you are right about your distrust which might be supported by what he said on the phone as well as shooting the guy that ran away from him he murdered them.

But there's certainly quite some doubt to that second scenario, so he shouldn't be imprisoned.

So what I said earlier. I can go out and shoot someone then later claim I was fearing for my life, and because there were no witnesses, I WALK.

How does this sit with you?

You can.

And if the evidence adds up and there is a reasonable doubt you shouldn't be convicted.

Since you do commit the murder though in this scenario it is unlikely that that will happen. But I'd rather have killers that won't do it again free than innocent people in jail.

Lets say I have a concealed weapons permit. I carry a Beretta. Police arrive on the scene after I shot two guys dead, two guys that were jacking someone else, not me.

They see the two jackers shot in the back, one of them while apparently fleeing. I say "I was fearing for my life."
