I agree, should it not all be merged into the 2008 Presidential Election Discussion Thread? Also, why are they labeled Official, isnt that a bit misleading?
Are you sure such a term even exists...realistically?
A point I have been making for quite some time. He was and is the best choice.
What better choice is there than the guy that sits across from McCain in the senate steam room and is still willing to thrown his toweled compatriot to the wolves? Are they friends? I guess. Does it matter to either Biden or McCain? Not in the long run. Why? Because the "long-run" is power and money for either one that comes out on top. Personally, I'd have gone with Biden for President and Kucinich as VP. But I support Obama and he's made the best possible choice for the job; far over Clinton. Now all she has to do is behave like she's been told by her own party and the America voting public. The Clintons are honoured guest speakers at the convention, and if they want that status to continue they'll either shape up or have to start their own 3rd party. (A hard thing to do when one of them is in debt.) I like Hilldog, but she lost and she either has to belly up to the bar or realize it's still an hour before closing. Her furture isn't written in stone. She just needs to bide her time. Obama isn't a sure thing yet. She's still fresh on the American tounge. How she chooses to handle that position is up to she and her husband.
I am uncomfortable with only one thing: the similarities between the Kennedy/Johnson situation and the Obama/Biden situation. It's a good thing there's already a war raging. I just hope it doesn't get any worse.
Call me what you will, but if there are separate threads for separate lines of discussion, call me old-fashioned if I think they should be used as such.
On that note, does it concern anyone that a person may think:
"Is there a reason this ticket isn't reversed?"
From what I've been reading what's being trumped up in the media is that:
Biden is incredibly experienced, knowledgeable and nuanced in the realm of foreign policy and has been around long enough to stand on other areas of policy.
Biden has a relatively compelling narrative, working class roots, middle America, lost his wife and daughter etc - he is someone the Average Joe can relate to seemingly far better than Obama.
Biden is presumably ready to be President since that should be one of the biggest considerations for any VP pick.
On policy the pair can't be too far apart of Biden would never have been picked.
Essentially I wonder whether it will bring to voters mind: why does all of the above count for nil in the end against vague rhetorical prowess in determining the order of the names...
He does of course have the negatives of apparently verbosity, loose lips and boring old white man-ness...

Nah, it's because you can't let a lively conversation go on for the mere fact that the topic is not 100 percent correct. Besides, this is the "Official" discussion thread of the 2008 Presidental Election, who McCain is going to pick is obviously part of it, that you chose to make an additionasl thread really shouldn't distract anyone from discussing it.
I actually made this thread after the other one. I already said to BF that if he thinks the thread are better suited merged, then I'm fine with that. Well, being from the state that Bayh represents, I can tell you that he's more "exciting" than the meeting gives him credit for.
Well, I only know Bayh from the media, he's a great speaker and good at owning people, but I don't remember the crowd being that enthusiastic as I saw them with Biden.
