That actually didn't bother me much at all. I thought it was a nice little minigame/diversion.
Just so you know, since you already beat the game you will get 50k of each mineral on your next playthrough, as a gift for having beaten the game. Just found this out last night.
Did you get the ship upgrade that makes it faster? If not, then I totally understand, it's excruciatingly slow at first. The upgrade by no means makes it fast, but it definitely helps.
It would of been really cool if they made it easier for scanning. It would of helped. Maybe adding a colour scheme that shows when you go over a spot on the planet, so you know that you've been there.
It also didn't help that I had to fly back and get probes all the time. It just wasn't fun. It would
I don't think it is all too bad on replays. If you got certain achievements they give you 200,000 credits and 50,000 resource points for every mineral. WHich is more than enough if ye ask me. I'm currently doing a Sentinel run...see whats so good about it that makes it the class for insanity(though I'm not tackling that difficulty yet). Apparently Soldiers/Infiltrator/Sentinel rock insanity

I actually think playing as Infiltrator was a bit too easy. During the crazy battles where you usually had to take out the boss to finish the mission and start the cut scene, I just hid behind cover and kept on headshoting the boss until he/she died. I loved it how when you zoom in there's slow mo for around four seconds, but after that it's like twice the normal speed while your looking through a zoom. I found myself in cool moments where I enter an area, three enemies pop up, and I zoom in and headshot every one of them in a row and just conitnue walking.
However, I kill most of my enemies just by launching that incinerating missile round thingie. It never runs out, and it does decent damage. It goes around corners if you angle your shot. You can pretty much spam that thing, and take little to no damage, at all. And, time is slow for you if you equip a sniper rifle (if you're playing on a higher difficulty), while you launch the attack.
I rarely have to fire a gun of any kind. I upgraded it to level 4, with the highest amount of damage option, not the blast radius option. I pretty much kill all of the bad guys and my team mates work the enemies' health down. I am unsure if this is an oversight by the designers or if it's intended to be spamed for the harder difficulties (cause I don't know how you could use anything but that weapon on the harder difficulties cause you'd run out of ammo very fast without using that arm cannon thingie.)
So who did everyone romance their first time through?
I at first was going to go after Miranda, just because she's the hot trophy wife kinda thing and thought she would fit with my renegade agenda of that playthrough, but then I started talking to Tali and really dug her character. Tali has become my favorite character now. Her backstory and personal quest is my favorite, and she just seem so...sweet. So I ended up going with her.
To me, it seems the breakdown for each female character is this -
Miranda: Trophy Wife - Hot but hollow and uninteresting. Just all about the looks.
Samara: Milf. 1000 years old and can probably make your toes curl like nothing else. Can probably give you good motherly advice after making you splooge.
Jack: Obviously psycho-*****. Probably a good energetic romp in the sack, but might end up causing physical harm to you during the fun.
