The final boss felt, well, lame. Appropriately epic ending and all, and a superb story as expected. Nothing about it felt as big as the first one, though I guess that's to be expected. They're planning at least 3 games, so I suppose this was inevitably going to feel like "The Two Towers" so to speak. I wiki'd the "Overlord" story because I don't really feel like playing it.
Jack tore sh*t up for me. I would've died a lot more without her on my squad for most missions. And my Shepherd was a girl. I was happy with the decision, and apparently the female voice actor was leagues beyond the male Shepherd, so w/e.

People exagerate about Hale doing a better job than Meer. And if you are going renegade Meer is the better choice. Sounding like a total dick/prick/douche/badass all in one to counter Hale's monotonous job. She makes Shepard sound kind of exhausted all the time.
Not having played as a dude, I didn't get the full experience from the voice actor. But I did a lot of youtube searching for random stuff that I missed throughout the game. And it was enough to make me happy that my Shepherd was female. Maybe I don't have enough info to truly know, but meh.
Also, creepy moments ahoy. Any time Shepherd sat down to stare at a stripper, then lean forward, all with her squad just watching her (or him) I wanted to squirm.
I've played the game twice now (second time to get the Insanity difficulty achievment), first as a male Shepard and then as a Female. I do not think I can point out who did a "better" job, but I do think that they both did a great job.
You pick the save you want to bring over (if you have multiple completed games) so if you have 2 completed games you can pick whatever one you're happy with.
And after my "cuddle session" with Kelly, I'm a bit miffed. Mind you, I don't play for the sex scenes, but I'm entirely too amused by the lengths they go to pander to those who do. The awkward dialogue alone is worth the price, aside from the excellent game going on around it. As such, I feel like I deserve more than a stripper dance and hand holding after saving the damn galaxy. In Mass Effect 3 I am sleeping with everyone.
It's a pretty mature rated game with alot of adult themes and having the sex scene be PG rated is a big let down. If games want to be like movies, they better be like movies. If you saw that in a 18A (R) rated movie, it would totally not fit the theme of the movie.
I rather have no sex scene then Mass Effect's 2 scene.

Bioware toned down the sex scene so that Fox News wouldn't give them crap again it would seem. Don't blame the team, blame the parents who don't want their kids playing them even though ironically they're the ones who give their kids the games.
No no, I thought it was hilarious. Brief, faded clips of fully clothed adults grinding on each other for a couple seconds, before fading to black. Priceless stuff. I guess I don't care if it meshes with the game or not, I see it as a tacked on mini-game type of deal anyway, and enjoy the awkwardness and random flirtation that it brings. If I wanted a real sex scene, I wouldn't play a game for 40 hours to get there...there's easier ways to fulfill suchs needs.
It felt like Gears in space to me, personally. I was just playing through ME2 today and thinking about how familiar camping behind a fallen pillar waiting for my health to regenerate so I can whittle away at the enemy's shields some more, felt. It felt too familiar.
Gears in Space is a bit of an exaggeration. But yeah I didn't like the combat in ME2 very much. Too much time spent waiting behind cover for something to happen, wither it be powers to recharge or health.

It all depends on the job you choose. If you go soldier it pretty much becomes gears in space, which IMO it isn't a bad thing given how good gear's gameplay can technically be. However once you choose the jobs involving biotic powers it becomes better than gears. Charging at someone and then blasting the shit out of them with a shotgun never gets old.
