In my opinion, Watchmen as a movie was just "ok" nothing more. Which is what I expected.

I wasn't expecting all that much, but it turned out to be a decent movie. Long, slow and plodding, but enjoyable.

Part of why Watchmen is so great is because of the way it chooses to treat superheroes in the way they would be in the real life- basically insane, violent, borderline fascistic vigilantes.

Not to nit pick, but I didn't get that insanity or fascism from Silk Spectre or Nite Owl.

The movie was very enjoyable for me, I loved it. I don't want to just blatantly say it's better than TDK or TDK is better, because they are both very great movies. I'd have to see Watchmen a few more times to come to a true conclusion on which is better.

Calling the Dark Knight very great strikes me as a tad hyperbolic, or just plain stupid. As for Watchmen... I haven't yet seen it, but, while the comic doubtless falls into the category of 'very great' I have my doubts about the film...

They might have been the last outward corrupt members of Watchmen, but that still doesn't change Watchmen's primary point in regards to the nature of comic book vigilantism.

Just saw it. Pretty good. It was respectful to its source though the slow mo and the music became a little annoying.

I saw it last night. It was all right. It was an average movie. It really isn't for everyone though. People who don't like thinking, may wanna stay away.

I just got back from seeing Watchmen. It was good. There were some great moments - the scenes of Rorschach in prison were all excellent, but there were some not-so-great moments, too. Suprisingly, the bits involving Dr. Manhattan were the most boring bits! I liked what they did with the ending in general, but I hated the fact that the most iconic shot/scene from the comic book was missing - [SPOILER - highlight to read]: the bit where Nite Owl and Rorschach realise they are too late..

Overall, I thought it was good. Good, good, good.

However, in terms of a cinematic experience, The Dark Knights shits all over it.

I just got back from seeing Watchmen at the theater and I'm neither angry or pleased.

If you've never read Watchmen, you'll love this movie.

If you've actually read Watchmen, you'll probably be indifferent, as I am, to this movie.

The only things that really disappointed me was how [SPOILER - highlight to read]: Veidt cloned Jon's power to kill the millions, instead of the alien corpse and the psychic shockwave, and how Rorschach was given too much emotion. Rorschach actually conveyed human traits. It was kinda annoying.

I always thought the [SPOILER - highlight to read]: giant squid thing and the psychic shockwave was a bit shit. Although it might seem a little sacrilegious, the movie's ending was more cohesive. I agree with the Rorschach bit, he was much more human and sympathetic in the movie than in the graphic novel. He even [SPOILER - highlight to read]: gushed a bit to Nite Owl, and quivered a bit at the end!.

Still, I thought it was good. Not great, but good.

It had some notable flaws but I enjoyed it... however two groups of people sitting in front of me walked out of the theater and never returned, so I'm not sure how non-comic book civilians expect the Dark Knight received the movie.

I saw this earlier...,it was ok. It didn't blow my mind or even make very much of an impression but it was entertaining. I'm not sure exactly what is wrong with this movie. At times you sense that it could have been great but then it stumbles over itself and becomes stale. I am going to be seeing it again tomorrow so, maybe after a second viewing i will find a greater appreciation or get a better understanding with where it went wrong. Either way, i will say it's worth seeing, if you're a science fiction fan. If not, wait for dvd because this movie is only for a select few.

I agree. The ending apart, it was pretty faithful to the graphic novel, but it was just missing something. Rorschach stole the show, and most of his scenes were really good, but the rest was just...'good'.

Why are you going to see it again so soon?

I just saw it, went in didn't know what to expect and I have to say I didn't like it but I didn't hate it. It wasn't terrible in fact there were some neat concepts but it gave me a bit of a headache and my mind kept wandering off...I thought some of the ideas were great but the story was so jaggered and didn't feel natural when it cut from one characters perspective to another. I think by the time it cut back to Rorschach the second time I wanted the movie to end because my head wouldn't stop hurting. Nonetheless it did make me laugh, I thought some of the blood and gore was hilarious (Not sure if that was what was intended) and I was laughing at Nite Owl's delayed reaction to [SPOILER - highlight to read]: Rorschach's death. Action scenes were meh but some of the dark humour/politically snide remarks made up for that. Eh not sure how they got away with the rating 16 in Ireland though especially with certain blue parts hanging out for most of the movie. I've never read Watchmen before but I saw who the masked guy was from a mile...not really sure what my overall opinion is...definitely wouldn't recommend it to someone or would go and see it again. But my friend seems to have enjoyed it anyway.

And I have to agree with the above poster who said the bits with Dr. Manhattan on Mars anyway were pretty boring. The slow motion was really badly done and the music while funny at the beginning started to get a tad bit annoying. Not to mention the backstory/flashbacks...for each character just seemed to wreck my eyes and head.

I walked into Dark Knight trying to hate it and I came out loving it. I walked into this movie with no opinion and left with my eyes and head hurting (And I liked V for Vendetta). Just wasn't my cup of tea I guess.
