My wife (then girlfriend) quit cold turkey two weeks before our wedding.

I have a friend who quit, but needed help. Did the the nicotine vaping, then moved to the patch and is now on nicotine gum, very low concentration. Actually, I think I have two friends that quit using this three-step method.

Like I say, the calming effect is more just you finally getting a hit of that sweet anti-addiction. I do really enjoy smoking, though. The headaches go away... eventually... most of the time
