A person should have a certain awareness of consequence, you don't want your kid growing up and believing they can do whatever they want.
If you let your kid run around smashing shit up and hurt you then I think you should be allowed to excersise an amount of violence to show them that when they hurt directly, they get it back. Shouldn't be hit for stealing, or general misbehaving. The punishment always has to reflect the crime.

This is probably what you've been saying from the start though. I'm not good at interpreting people.

me and my sister were smacked in the ass with a wooden spoon and once we got old enough to reason we learned to not do the bad stuff but when we did something we would sit on the couch with pillows on either side of our legs cause if they couldnt reach our butts theyd go for whatever they could reach on you
