MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
To manage storage space, check and log deliveries and store stock/non stock. To pack, log and distribute requested stock to divisions/departments and all police stations as required.
MAIN DUTIES
1. Responsible for identifying requests for stationery/printing/furniture/uniform and arranging the issue, log and dispatch to relevant divisions/departments.
2. To measure staff/officers requiring uniform items, issue and ensure the correct fit.
3. To ensure that the personal measurements are maintained on the computerised stores system.
4. To provide desktop deliveries to customers at the Headquarters complex.
5. To off-load stock from vehicles and check and record deliveries against purchase orders, to enter deliveries on the computerised stores system, together with storing in relevant locations.
6. To maintain stock rotation to ensure stock does not exceed its sell by date.
7. To replenish shelves and maintain the supplementary stores.
8. To continually monitor stock, in line with replenishment of minimum and maximum levels, and adjust accordingly on the computerised stores system.
9. To liaise with and advise customers on commodity code queries.
10. To liaise with, facilitate and advise customers on deliveries of non stock orders and order queries.
11. To carry out one full stock check per year, where weekend working is required, as directed by the Manager.
12. To operate and maintain a forklift truck and other stock handling equipment.
13. To arrange for the collection and re-issue/disposal/destruction/recycle of items such as uniform, handcuffs, and confidential waste.
14. To arrange for and monitor the condition of returned uniform from resigning officers.
15. To maintain a safe and “tidy” stores area in accordance with health & safety requirements and force policy.
16. To maintain safe working practices for self and others in accordance with the South Wales Police Statement of Policy on Health and Safety at work.
17. To ensure the work meets quality standards in providing a service to internal and external clients of the Unit.
18. To ensure procedures and practices comply with South Wales Police Equal Opportunities Policies.

20. To ensure procedures and policies comply with South Wales Police Diversity Strategy.
21. The post holder will be subject to annual appraisal which will incorporate a review of the above duties and the performance of the post holder.
22. In addition to the above duties and responsibilities, the post holder must be prepared to undertake such additional duties which may result from changing circumstances, but which may not of necessity change the general character or level of responsibility of the post.
