Well yeah that was the point i tried to make a few times. It's not that they ACTUALLY tie. Its just that both sides think that its a stomp, and i've been accused of idocy and being a moron or a fanboy too many times to even try to get my point across anymore. Which im an neither. But neways this thread will probably go on forever.

Dementors have minds, as they've staged revolts and can cast their own spells. So it stands to reason Xavier could also attack them mentally, this isn't a certain though, so I'm not saying he's going to. +1 to your side

Xavier can simultaneously contact/affect many minds, he isn't held back by being a one-hitter at a time, this is shown in the movies.

Those few wizards with occlumency could [potentially] resist Xavier, but they'd have to actively do so, if they stopped using occlumency to cast some other spell, they'd leave themselves vulnerable to a mental assault. Though really, it's questionable if occlumency could hold back a telepath of Xavier's caliber, as we've seen stronger telepaths overwhelm a weaker in X2. But let's just say occlumency can counter Xavier. Another +1 to your side.

Has Voldermot (or any other wizard) ever shown the ability to cast two or more spells at once? If so, please do state the case. Then it would be possible for Voldermort to resist Xavier with occlumency and go about his business of casting other spells.

Xavier would have "basic knowledge" of the Dementors, so all the wizards he's controlling, he'd have them both attack the Dementors and defend himself/the mutants. He's a genius after all, yes, shown in the movies too.

You haven't shown a valid argument. You think Voldermort will just 'poof' in and kill Xavier the second the fight starts, will ignoring that he'd be killed instantly if he 'poofed' into a room full of mutants and ignoring that Xavier would instanly be finding minds the fight starts, taking them over and the few wizards resisting/dementors would be fighting themselves, soon followed by the mutants joing in to overwhlem.

No, it's only gone on this long because some people don't know the difference between magic and mutant powers. And others care enough to continue to explain that difference, in various ways.

They may have started out childish, which is good because i began reading them as a young teen. But as the went along it got just a little bit more grousome, and violent, along the way.

Listen, I'm not judging as I have childish sides to me despite being a grown man. Just the HP books are clearly written for the younger mind, is all. Still haven't seen the last one, waiting for it's DVD release.

The only thing I hate about the series is how mind numbingly stupid Voldemort was. And the "Wizarding World" are among the most selfish, backwards bunch of arses I've seen in fiction. All the things they could do to help humanity, and they hoard all the magic for their ****ing nonsensical excuse for a sport.

I agree, their nothing spectacular. I was really late to the party and read the first one when I was 17, and I thought it was pretty fun and well written for what it was trying to do. And the books stayed pretty consistent throughout.

The books were originally written for the younger crowd, but JK Rowling saw that adults took to them, so she obviously got a bit darker with each book.

If the Dementors could be controlled telepathically, they would have shown it in the movies. Voldemort could not, Dumbles could not. They are controlled by magical means only, plain and simple. Mutants have no magical powers, therefore they are helpless against them. Its pretty cut and dry.

Rob, the mental assault would never happen. The Dementors are the deal breaker here. The following combatants should be removed: Dementors, Voldemort, Xavier, Phoenix, possiby even Dumbles.

Yup. Well, in a sense. Death eaters can fly around and cast spells at the same time.

Logical fallacy. Psionic telepathy /= magic telepathy. Xavier is not magical, therefore, he cannot use magic. Magical telepathy is not what he uses. And, the "telepathy" in HP is so limited and so crude that it's literaly like comparing a giant to a bacterium.

All we have to go with is what is shown in Harry Potter, and the movie implied that the Dementors can only be controlled by magical beings. And yes, Voldy was the shit at telepathy, so there goes any chance of Dementors being controlled by telepathy.

Since Xavier's powers aren't magic, he doesn't have to worry about all of that stuff getting in the way. Anything with a mind is at his disposal. If you want to get technical, sure, he's never controlled, in the movies, he never controlled an animal before.

But if you want to gimp Xavier, that's fine, the Wizards still don't stand a chance. wink

Since Xavier pretty much solos all of the wizards at once, I don't see why this is even being debated.
