its alwasy good to have a back up plan yes, you cant predict the happening of a fight duel so...............
Well from what we are thought in the military we always need a back up plan, somethimes that means adapt to the present situation. Surrender is not an option here
take no prisoners!! kill 'em all, let god sort 'em out!!!!!!

But in these terms, there is no point. For a start, you can never stop improving your swordfighting, there is no 'ceiling' to it, so any improvement you make should be in your own style. Secondly, there is no need for a fall back. As I say, it is not as if a different style would avail you any better- unless you were erroneously fighting in a style that did not suit you (say if Yoda was trying to fight like Windu for exmaple). But no-one would do that!

ill have to go with RJ on this one.
in boxing u learn the basic, u learn the ropes. that is the basic. then u move on to other styles of fighting adapting them to the basic fighting style youve all ready learnt.
if u learn more than noe fighting style it is almost inevitable that you will cross-use them..(like a hybrid-fighting style) adapting two (or more) styles and hopefuly carrying the stronger points of eact fighting styles rather than the weak 1's. boxers have been doing this for years due to the fact that it gives them a clear adavntage over his/her opponent.
i do believe the same conept can be adapted to star wars and light-saber dueling. u'll b much better knowing techniques from different styles as u would know both the strong and weak points. thus preparing urself better defensively and offensively.
and as for ob1, i reckon the guy only knew da classic fighting style. and when he took on dooku he was doomed right from the start due to the fact that dooku was much more skilled and experience in that style (wattever he uses).
now imo ob1 wouldve had more of a chance of imposing himself in the duel if he knew more than 1 way of attacking and defending. this wouldve surely thrown dooku off-guard fo mayb a spli moment giving ob1 a slight window of oppurtunity.
