It is mostly mass: smoke is a colloid.

Jedi could easily control it. That's my opinion.

However, there was a vid posted of a Death Eater stopping a train...so I could be wrong: a powerful wizard may have waaaaaaay more TK than a Jedi, meaning, they won't control shit.

It was in HBP. Dumby put a field around Hogwarts to keep the Deatheaters and Voltdy out.
