I do agree, though, the Malevolence just doesn't pack enough punch with its ion cannon to disable the Executor. Even if it does briefly disable the Executor, there's just too much bulk there for the Malevolence to do any meaningful damage before any number of the Executor's back up generators get it back online long enough for it to utterly obliterate the Malevolence.
Not to mention how long it takes the Malevolence to charge its ion cannon. In that time, the Executor could already to severe damage to many of the Malevolence's critical systems.
Past that, the three ISDs against the three Providence-class cruisers is just laughable. The ISDs would make short work of the cruisers, and come at the Malevolence from three separate angles to prevent them all from being disabled by a single shot of the ion cannon. The Malevolence can't slug it out against three ISDs, even if it were able to somehow remove the Executor from the equation.
This is just a lopsided fight in general. 2010 sure was a different time.
