buck never really came across as badass... just a good leader.. johnson is quite possibly the most legendary character in all of the halo universe.. far outshines the master chief.. and forge did something no other human ever has... killed an arbiter... in close quarters combat.. and made a sacrifice that was only a hundred million times more effective than jorge's... or johnsons, for that matter... <.<.. too bad no-one really knows about it..

Buck was a good soldier, unlike most ODST he took on a large Covenant force solo through the first flashback sequence of Halo 3: ODST XD (Yes, I killed the marines). Forge did two things that no other soldier has ever done. Wielded an Energy Sword, and Killed the Arbiter (Something only other Covenant have ever done lmao). Finally, Johnson wasn't all that badass. Halo 1: He survived. Halo 2: Semi-badass, got his butt kicked by the Arbiter and never really showed up! Halo 3: Got his ass kicked by a Brute Chieftan, Got his butt kicked by some brutes away from the bomb which John cleared in 5 seconds, got his butt kicked by another Brute swarm at the Shield, couldn't do anything when Miranda got shot in the back, and got his butt kicked a final time by the Oracle. And to those of you who criticize because of him kicking ass outside before the Oracle, he had a Spartan Laser and was sitting on top of a mountain 30 feet off the ground! If he didn't kick ass then I'd have to kick his he's a Spartan for god sake!

O_o... go read contact harvest, and first strike. and the flood. in game, the master chief is unstoppable juggernaught. in the books, hes not.. then come back and try to tell me johnson isnt a BAMF. and for the record.. miranda got herself killed.. she was supposed to be the rescue team, but thats what you get for letting a woman drive.. O_o killed by a prophet, no less... tsk. at least johnson was still fighting every time he got captured. did you see th beating he took while still laughng in their face?
it takes balls to punch something in the gut that could easily rip a silverback gorilla in half and devour it. plus, hes the only human with enough badassitude to ever get swarmed by the flood, and survive due to sheer badassedry.

... =.= 1. Insult women again and just see if I don't go medieval on your ass. 2. Johnson was TRYING to get himself killed so that they couldn't activate the rings. 3. He's a Spartan, his augmentation made him immune to the flood (Just like every other Spartan).

uhh, no? he got that because he stole a massive case of 2,000 plasma grenades from the covenant and then USED THEM ALL to stop a covy assault force.. (they all died) go read the flood again.. the flood totally almost got john.. cortana saved his pale bionic ass.. think of it.. be woulda been the strongest flood EVER... O_O

how would that protect him? as far as protecting him goes, wasnt itJohn was given a datapad, file (whatever it was) from Halsey, about johnson's boren syndrome that kept him from being infected and wanted it to reach some organization science place, where they would then experiment, cut, disect, and kill johnson to try and figure out how to use that to protect other humans, but there was like a 1 in 1000 chances they would succeed, and master cheif basically said "**** that" and destroyed it, to protect Johnson...or did i get that wrong?

I know what I read people, Johnson was immune to the flood and the Boren's Syndrome was supposed to be a lie that was created by Halsey to avoid them digging in his body to find out what it was that made him immune and mass producing it.
It was a believable story because it was contracted due to his stealing of the crate that held 2,000 plasma grenades which came from the extreme generation of plasma residue.
EDIT: And YES! SPARTAN'S ARE IMMUNE TO THE FLOOD BECAUSE OF THE AUGMENTATION THEY GET! (it wasn't meant to be that way it was a side effect) =_=

makes sense spartan-ii's were immune because they were hardcore cyborgs, but spartan-i's (johnson) i dont believe got any cybornetic upgrades, mostly chemically induced enhancements, like super steroids for the muscles kind of thing, and the spartan-ii being 'immune' to flood might just be (what i like to call) the "can't touch me" effect, where theysimply kicked way to much flood ass to get infected.
further, i still dont see how the borens syndrome was a lie to prevent them from being digging into him, they were going to dig into him because of it, the only debate i've read about is whether he's immune, or just never got infected
edit: they might have been one or two implants, when i was reading it, it was fairly technical terms, didnt understand one or two words

oh, and this is incredibly on topic, because what if we run into the flood via rp? O_O.. we've GOT to know if some of us are immune or not...
and no-one, not even cortana or hasley really knew if the spartans could be infected or not, because no spartan ever got killed by the flood. (take THAT, covenant!) plus, the flood avoided johnson because the disease is highly degenerative.. he honestly didnt have very much time left to still be a badass, because he was technically dying.. genetic disorders woulda carried on to the flood and potentially killed alot of flood.
whereas the II's enhancements would seem to make them a very valuable target for the flood. imagine new flood combat forms that are stronger and faster because of the altered spartan DNA.... its scary..
and i think all UNSC forces have some form of implant, just nothing augmetic. possibly like subdural dog tags, and transponder signals or something.. not sure...

they have something that monitors their life signs, and its possible that the implants are what made them impossible to control or infect, imagine if your body was composed with cyborgnetic parts, but you couldnt control them, have you seen the flood? they barely run with regular bodies right
