Yeah. They must be a part of some Hunger Games lottery.. lol. But that wouldn't be much of a selfless sacrifice if they were chosen. I guess it's not very selfless if some old f#cker does it, cuz he's probably on his way out anway. Means more if he's young.
You may be right. Closer inspection appears that it is similar (although why the knee plates are different from any other picture of the suits I can find is odd, and the armlets appear to have grown with the dimensions of the creature). If it is Fifield and not simply another random mook who got infected like one of the security personnel, I still want to know why there's relatively little fire damage. Fifield was crushed under the vehicle and then torched.

The suits could have been designed to withstand fire. *shrug*
Makes sense that they would sacrifice a Engineer in top physical condition. Using an elder would increase the likelihood of introducing age-damaged DNA or mutations from a full life of exposure to whatever, no?
Indeed. Another thing I was thinking - AvP 1 and 2 seems to imply that Xenomorphs predate this movie. And they encountered them elsewhere, but nowhere are they seen hunting Engineers (no skulls, etc.). So the implication is that Xenomorphs arose elsewhere before the events of Prometheus and were gathered and hunted by Predators.
Except I can't recall how old the ice pyramid was in AvP1.
Dude, I don't really consider that AvP non-sense even remotely relevant to the (Ridley's) Alien universe. lol. That shit's an offshoot.. and a very bad one at that. Although, oddly enough I would be curious to see the first AvP again at some point, just for shits 'n giggles.
Anyway, I saw Prometheus again last night. It gets better and better. It is very finely crafted and I've picked up on more each time I've seen it. I wanted to ask if anyone knows (or can find) what exactly Weyland says to David when they are lying on the ground at the end after the Engineer has beaten Weyland to the ground. I couldn't make it out. anybody have any idea?
Oh, and another think I don't really understand is why Vickers was so insistent on knowing what Weyland told David. "Try harder." What did Weyland mean by that and why the f#ck was Vickers so pissed off about it?
(But I will say that it IS a bit strange that Fifield gets lost when he's the one who brought the "pups" to do the mapping of the place. That part is a little odd. I guess you could say that (since he's kind of a hot-head dick) he might have just been feeling a bit pissed off and cocky and tried to get back to the ship from memory and failed... or maybe his feed to the instrument wasn't working for the navigation... who knows. But they probably should have explained that a little better. Oh well, I'll let it slide since it might have required a bit of a detour from what was more interesting, but I don't think it would have taken more than 20 seconds or so to show him fumbling with the navigation and having it malfunction or something.)
And I still propose that this guy has the best analysis of the film so far. It makes the most sense of anything I've read:
I might go see it again tomorrow, but I think the Try harder was referring to finding out exactly where the Engineers are and what's going on as he needs them if he's going to have any hope of living.
I like this list. Prometheus is at the top of Fox's grosses for 2012 so far (by quite a large margin). It's not necessarily Fox's biggest profit mind you, but I still think Fox would be crazy not to persue sequels ASAP, especially since Ridley and friends have them in mind already and want to do them.

Fassbender is clearly channeling Jrgen Prochnow from Das Boot. And that was a very very good interview. Enjoyed seeing them both outside of the confines of their roles. Noomi is new to me, but Fassbender I've seen before. Love them both as actors.
Video interview with Damon Lindelof. Well, it's actually more of a conversation between he and the writer of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. Pretty interesting. Now, for the people who keep blaming him for messing up the film, he spells out that he was just doing what Ridley Scott wanted. That's what he was hired to do.
"The Daemon lied with every breath. It could not help itself but to deceive and dismay, to riddle and ruin. The more we conversed, the closer I drew to one singularly ineluctable fact: I would gain no wisdom here."

Excellent observation, Sherlock. I see nothing wrong with posting 20 times in a row as long as one is still contributing. Do you have anything to contribute? No? Then why did you post at all? STFU.
While I'm at it, I'll mention this: It is almost at $300 Million worldwide. I've been watching the box office gross like a hawk.
