Admittedly, yes, the playstyle looks fairly unique. But there are far more "worthy" characters for the game.

Going to agree with Ridley here, Rosalina got more characterization and history in two games than Peach did in her entire main series history. Not counting spin-offs such as SMRPG and Paper Mario, of course. She's probably one of the more interesting Mario characters, by which I mean she actually has a character to a degree.

It's not as if she stole a slot from someone else; we have no way of knowing who is even considered. If you think of her as a replacement for some other character, yeah, I can see not liking this. I prefer to think of this as adding to the roster, though.
