Never would have happened under Giffen.. (To hell with Starlin, Keith Giffen's Thanos was tough, and had a sense of humor. )

Since early before part 2, he has been clearly tanking moon busters to the face. Since Piccolo destroyed the moon with a blast, and that same Piccolo was blasting Goku in that same fight. What's the difference between a moon busting punch and a moon busting energy blast? And why does Goku need to be able to tank anything, since Superman wouldn't be able to tank a Kamehameha either?

He can fly faster than Goku if that's what you mean. In combat? What legit speedster who was utilizing his or her super speed has Superman outright blitzed?

What is that, if it's not herald level? Meta? Street?
Now how easily would base Frieza crush that Vegeta a thousand times over? How easily would SSJ3 Goku destroy full power Frieza? It's basic powerscaling.
If that Kamehameha or Galic Gun hit Superman, would he be able to just brush it off? Hell no, he would at least be hurt. But Namek Goku would be able to easily tank it.

Goku cannot see the whole planet, and this would not be the only time a villain lied in DBZ, lol.
Also, ki blasts =/= physicality.
DBZ characters ability to work with ki makes them much more able to handle it than they can physical attacks. Their ki attacks are much, much more powerful than their physical attacks and yet their physical attacks are still plenty capable of hurting one another. So their durability is highly inconsistent or they can resist and combat ki.
No one in DBZ has ever demonstrated the physical might to destroy a moon, for example, quite the opposite, in fact. Heavy gravity and training weights are still a strain on their muscles, even when said weights would sit under a hundred tons, I'd expect characters like Goku to be able to bench press mountains, but DBZ stops several times to tell me 'no, no he cannot'. His ki attacks are absolutely herald level, but the rest of him is less impressive.

Goku can sense ki. He knew that he had to counter Vegeta's blast or his planet would blow up.
See beaten down Frieza surviving explosion of Namek and then being cut to pieces by a regular sword that couldn't even scratch experienced SSJ Goku's finger. So clearly, they can use their ki to amp their physical stats.
There's no need to, because ranged blasts > punches.
Lifting strength doesn't help anyone in a fight and isn't the same as punching strength, so why even bring it up? Goku can hit at least as hard as Superman, but Superman can lift way more.
You think so? Goku seemed pretty sure he was right.
And Goku called Freeza and Buu being able to destroy a planet, so his records pretty good.
And Roshi casually busted a moon at a time when he needed all his energy to fight Goku (Whom he still defeated), and his pl was only something like 200. Nowhere near that era's strongest character (Ten was stronger when he was introduced, and even Krillin probably became stronger). pl 200 = (casual) moon buster, and Geta was pl 18,000 or so.
