I know everyone has their own opinions concerning the movies but when I do a comparison between this Spiderman series the previous one, I favor this one by far.
Categories that I rate the two series on are:
Character depiction
Story
Action scenes
I this series and movie in particular by far surpass the previous series.
The only characters that I thought were done right in the previous series were:
Jameson
Doctor Octopus
Really? That's funny, because I'm pretty sure Harry and Electro were both terribly executed in this film, and the so was the Lizard in the prior one.

Garfield and Stone exhibit exactly zero romantic or sexual chemistry. Maguire and Dunst were adorkable in their own way. In fact, the entire Raimi series is memorable because of its endearing quirkiness, while the TASM series is bland and soulless.
TASM's version of the spider bite sucked compared to Raimi's version.
Dehaan was awesome in Chronicle, but he never came close to touching Dafoe as the Green Goblin.
To each his own. Where you see "endearing quirkiness" I see over the top cheesiness. Where you think "zero chemistry" I see as one of the greatest romances ever done in a superhero movie.
Looks like you despise the TASM series as much add I despise Ramai's series, and you admire Ramai's series add much as I do Webb's reinvention.
I wouldn't say that I despise TASM series because there are some parts that I DO like. Peter being more of a smart-ass compared to the Raimi version is a big improvement, and the two fights that he had with Electro were very well done and exciting, especially the first fight. Speaking of Electro, I wouldn't say that he was written very well, but I felt bad as hell for the guy. Max reminded me of what The Joker said in The Killing Joke about how having one bad day can make you as crazy as he is. Max had a horrible life it seems, and I had a visceral reaction to him that I didn't feel to anyone else in either TASM movie.
I watched this movie on weekend, Overall, the movie is immense definitely much better than the first one but the reviews I have been reading on do not align with my experience watching the movie. In my opinion, Peter and Gwen's chemistry is the best of the best when it comes to love angles in Superhero movies. I must say that this is the utmost spider-man movie to DATE.
To those who are confused about the movie after reading reviews should at least see the trailer before judging it. here's the newest first full "The Amazing Spider-man 2" trailer: litbloc. com/category/latest-movies/
In all the past films every single Villain found out who he was.
I like the fact that no he won't have anyone on his side who knows his identity. So we will get that "Spider-Man is all alone" feeling which always made the comics great.
And I was actually just referring to Electro. I don't even count Rhino as a villain for this film because his role was nothing more than a cameo and he didn't even become Rhino until the end after the main plot was over.
Well rumour has it that Sony are rethinking their whole Amazing Spider-Man franchise and shared universe now after TASM2 had ended being the lowest grossing Spider-Man movie to date (and by quite a bit), and with a rumoured budget of 250mill+(a budget they still are not disclosing publicly) and with marketing costs of almost another 200mill, it's probably only made a very tiny profit. Apparently TASM3 will be delayed by a year, whilst the Sinister Six movie may Happen first(presumably to stop TASM3 being another build up to Sinister Six). But there's even rumours of a another reboot!
