I understand it's a good thing for the Australian economy & the jobs it will create but I always cringe because Fox Studios is a casual 20 minute walk from where I live & knowing that kinda kills the magic for me.
When Lucas filmed the last 3 Star Wars at Fox Studios, it was like, "In a galaxy far far away...errr you mean 2 blocks down & turn left at the kebab shop?"
I'll go ahead and put out another reminder to change the title of this thread.
Also, it would appear that these rewrites could be a rather large overhaul on what Ridley was originally planning, which I could find upsetting. He originally said the alien had lost its scare factor and had been done to death. Well, now he's gonna do it. Oh well, at least it'll be done by the man himself, the man who started it all. I don't think it means he's throwing out the new monsters he wasn't to create. I hope not, at least...
Yeah, I'm a little less excited about this now. I mean, I'm sure it'll still be good, but I suspect they are going for the nostalgia card like The Force Awakens did. Don't get me wrong, I like some nice xenomorphs and chestbursters, but I was excited about the rich mythology approach of Prometheus. I just hope we dont get robbed of cool Engineer shit as a result.
Could be saving the Engineers for the final film of the trilogy, though I still do think this film will deal with the Engineers in some fashion, as it seems Shaw and David did make it to an Engineer world 10 or so years prior to the events of this film.
^ Yeah, supposed to show a dead Engineer world or something. I dunno, I'm gonna try to stop having expectations. We'll see what happens. We'll at least get a good, dark, violent sci-fi flick.
Said from the beginning that Prometheus felt like a half written story and they had no idea how to finish it or where it was going. This seems to confirm that. Seems like constant chopping and changing with no real direction in mind.
