LMAO [SPOILER - highlight to read]: I can't believe this crew is even dumber than the one from Prometheus. So hard to take the movie seriously when the characters are so terrible. Who would ever put this men in charge of colonizing a planet? LoL@Blood slipping and don't get me started on the severe David wank. WTF. Space Jockeys are a joke. Just standing there like...seriously? These are the space faring, life giving highly advanced beings that created us? LOL This is insulting as **** and makes no sense. Will still finish it lel

Seriously; a civilization this advanced doesn't have authorization codes that need to be entered by their ships before entering their atmosphere? Even with something as developed as David I don't see overcoming whatever systems are in place in time, or even thinking to look for them. What happened with Shaw makes the lease sense ever. What a waste of all the potential that came from Prometheus, as well as a waste of great acting talent.

That didn't really bug me.
I mean the Engineers were a superior & arrogant race.
It would never cross their minds that an inferior species would be able to control their ship, much less be stupid enough to fly it back to their homeworld.
They seemed surprised & joyful upon its return as if they thought they crew had perished.
I still make the argument that Prometheus was a great "reboot" of sorts and AC was the stupid miss step. Prometheus set up a great opportunity for some infinite dark, Giger-esque imagination and AC's response to that was to basically "reboot" again without any imagination.
They exist in the same universe as the Preds. There's no way they're so arrogant as to think that nothing could ever pose a threat to them. Even most developed countries in our world have serious anti-aircraft defense systems. There's no reason to assume that they couldn't detect one of their own ships returning off-schedule, nor is there reason to think it wouldn't be challenged before being allowed to get within range of their major population center.
Everything that happened in the film is full of holes; it makes Prometheus seems like an impenetrable bastion of continuity and plot integrity in comparison, and that's just bad.

Yeah, in Ridley Scott's universe the Preds aren't involved, at least that was my understanding from a while back, but the senile f#ck is changing his mind on everything else, so I don't even care anymore... he f#cked this series into the ground.
I'm juz gonna say...the most basic explanation was that David, being an android, hacked the Engineer's ship's computers & bypassed or faked security protocols for docking.
I would argue that he bungled it a lot worse than Lucas bungled the Star Wars prequels. He destroyed the mythos and completely threw away the more interesting concepts he introduced.
Yeah, the film was full of so many stupid sci-fi/fantasy tropes it was mind numbing.
And the entirety of the planet's population gathered in one spot to be goo'd. The planet's population was so small that they could all be gotten in one go. They planet was a magical one where no one was indoors when this happened, so no one survived to come after him. There were no consequences.
Ridley really did George Lucas this one. Actually, he one-upped Lucas, because the SW franchise is still pretty enjoyable even where the worst films are concerned; this is apparently unwatchable garbage for anyone who enjoys the Alien universe. How does one make a film that's worse than AvP in terms of coherence and being likeable? That took skill.
