Man. I could spend like, ten minutes (That's a lot of time for a post!) pointing out this stupid show's flaws, but now that I've finished it I can't help but love it to death.
Loved hating the last 2. Nui grew on me over time. One of those cases of loving to hate on them. And Ragyo effin' stole the spotlight from her very first appearance. I particularly like the scenes in E18 where Satsuki and Ragyo literally fight over the spotlight with their speeches.

Kill La Kill has one of the most lovable casts of characters I have ever seen in an anime. Even though I could see that they were pretty one-dimensional (Mostly at the start of the series, mind you) I couldn't help but enjoy them. There is one rather unfortunate exception to this rule. The main villain, Ragyo. I didn't hate Ragyo, and many times I enjoyed her presence onscreen (Like you know, when she molests the **** out of her children, that was cool, oh and she has a pretty awesome leitmotif), but I could never shake the thought that she was shallow, overly-pretentious, with a ****ing generic motive that had no real justification in her backstory.
"I want to blow up the planet!"
" Okay why?"
"Because I'm evil!"
Characterization-wise, it is by far the show's biggest weakness. Even Tsugumo, who you talked shit about, at least had some fairly understandable motives behind his actions (And he was hilarious as Aikuro's (sp?) straight man). She was wholly, irredeemably evil, I get that. I mean, one of my favorite characters is Ser Gregor Clegane, so it's not as if something like that is a turn-off for me from a characterization standpoint. But her characterization is weirdly off-balance. She won't shut the **** up about how the Life Fibers have made her transcend human desires and feelings, yet she does goofy shit like molest the **** out of Satsuki. And... Why? I get the impression that those scenes were thrown in there just to make Ragyo more easily despised as a character. All right, fair enough. But they need to synergize with the rest of the character, or else they come off as a little off-putting (Though for me they were mostly just hot), and not in the way Trigger intended.
Anyway, my favorite characters are (In no particular order) Ryuko, Satsuki, Senketsu, Gamagoori, Nonon, Nui, and Mako. I should mention that my favorite character in any given anime is almost never the main or one of the main characters, for some reason, and whether Trigger managing me to like all the main characters a lot is an achievement on their part or just chance, I can not say. Or maybe it's just because the yuri levels in this show are so obscenely high that that alone is enough to get on my list. Though that doesn't explain Senketsu. And by the way, [SPOILER - highlight to read]: I cried when he died. I don't even care who knows it. That was one of the most heart-wrenching death scenes I've seen in anime.
You aren't the only one. That scene is just like really.. you're going to do this now at the end. After the whole crazy ride this show is you're going to make the final part so tearful.

Oh, another issue I had was how easily whitewashed all of the frankly atrocious actions under Satsuki's regime were. I mean, I get that she had a reason for committing them, and they might have even been necessary, but the anime only barely explores the impact they had, and even starts pushing them to the sidelines even before she was officially a face. I mean really, a ****ing kid was killed and had his naked corpse hung as a warning in front of the school in the first episode. But Kill La Kill wants us to forget this and gives us overblown sexual abuse to justify it. Satsuki technically does say she was wrong when doing these actions, but it was so brief and unsatisfying.
Oh, and for that matter, why is Satsuki barely affected by being raped by her mother? For what is implied to have been years? Don't get me wrong, the actions are portrayed as unarguably bad, but it's off-putting for some viewers (Not me, I find it hot) that they'd put this sexual abuse in the series without really exploring how damaging it can be. I mean, I'm sure some could argue that Satsuki is so strong and stoic that she could weather this abuse with no effect on her psyche. Ignoring how blatantly offensive this train of thought (I'm not saying anyone here thinks this, but some have argued as much) to actual victims of molestation, I don't really think that's true. Satsuki plays the part of the stoic, but her vendetta against her mother is highly emotional and rage-filled, rather than just pragmatic. She cites the murder of her father and baby sister as the driving reasons for her betrayal. Which is fair enough, Ragyo's casual dumping of her youngest child as though she were garbage is arguably the most evil act she has. But she didn't even say "Oh and because you've been raping me since I was a girl. That's not very nice". We get no indication that Satsuki has been affected in the long-term by mommy's bad touching, which is a little off-putting.
Satsuki does say that shes become a very bitter person. And remember that Satsuki became hardcore as **** as soon as her dad died, when she was like 5 or some ridiculous shit.
And we don't have much information about the extent of Ragyo's molestations. We see her quasi-feeling her up and then fingering her when shes "unlocking her chakras", but who knows if that was the first time or not. Ragyo seems to have been mostly banging Nui imo.

I think Satsuki did not show much problem with the molestation because she was still fighting even when humiliated, chained and abused. She would not let Ragyo see her broken. She could very well use Ragyo's other deeds to channel her own rage with the whole molestation business. She could have grown up used to the abuse. Maybe she liked it.
I'm not sure that is what he meant, but I was so caught off-guard by the statement that I couldn't even begin to form a response.
I can now.
Uh, just because there were certain uncontrollable physiological responses indicating sexual arousal during the act, that doesn't at all mean she "liked it", on an emotional level.
LoL. BTW I was joking about Satsuki liking the pedo/incestful/yuri abuse. Still prove Satsuki wasn't fighting back against Ragyo's abuse. (i wish she didnt and loved it >> ) Anyway Am I the only one who appreciates "human/helpless" Satsuki mentally and physically owning Nui?

(please log in to view the image) So much Epicness. This is why I am in love with this series. They managed to make the tiers/power levels make sense without making characters look bad/job[except of course for mohawk dude...who was just there to confirm how OP Satsuki/Ryuko/The girls were]
