I love the break down of anti-stereotypical argument that Zack posted I noticed right away how strong the female characters are portrayed outside the norms of stereotypical behavior and portrayal. The Hellsing Manga and OVA series are also VERY strong examples of this in terms of female protagonists.
I went to the AX Eir Aoi concert for the glow stick. <3
It's an interesting enough assumption I suppose, though it acts on the assumption that that is what Trigger intended with the fanservice, which I seriously doubt.
Not denying that they are strong characters though....
I went to the Trigger panel and it was basically broken down into two parts. It was indeed fan service but the screenwriter intended it to also be a focus on character development. They made a concerted effort for the show to NOT be about romantic relationships. To not portray the female characters as in need of some sort of romantic figure to move on. They absolutely refused to acknowledge any relationships beyond friendship and specifically stated that it was up to the fans to decide anything like that. They openly admitted that the fan-service was exactly what it was on the surface; especially Sushio who designed the characters looks and attire. (He said his favorite character was Mako ) The creator had planned this anime he said for over ten years with the same intent on character development. None of them expected it to be as big as it ended up being.
Oh hey that site has the latest episode of Aldnoah.Zero (Crunchyroll won't let me watch it atm cause I'm not a member). Think I'll watch that. Will watch KlK after I get back from college.
Thanks.
