Well maybe its box office slump was due to some lackluster marketing and AoU being a bit of a letdown. Still thought there was fun to be had in this flick.
I disagree- comic book nerds are the only ones who give a shit about comic-movie accuracy, and they make up one of the smaller demographics of viewers. The general audience doesn't care about how much of a departure from the comics MCU Ant-Man is, nor are they aware of all of the trouble this film had in its production (the average person doesn't research a movie before they watch it).
A combination of general comic book fatigue and AoU being subpar is killing this movie.

The marketing was also weak and probably actively turned people off from the film. Which is a shame, I saw it on Thursday and it was a fine movie. Funny, good action, nice characters, no Adam Sandler......
i think Marvel knew Ant Man wasn't going to make a lot of money which is why they released it against competition. However they figured out this would make Batman Begins type of money and for a character like Ant Man $330 million worldwide is damn good...
I just saw this movie today. Considering that i intentionally had no desire of seeing an Ant-Man movie, i was pleasantly surprised. It's a very light movie, in the way that it never takes itself serious. There was definitely some competence put into the story and it could have easily followed the trend of being overly serious and dramatic but it truly was by all sense of the phrase, a popcorn movie. I don't mean to imply that i don't want to see Marvel continue to keep their heavy hitters as serious toned movies but ant-man, much like , Guardians, gives the, Marvel, franchise a nice contrast.
The movie has problems but the pacing of the movie makes it easy to forgive them. The only people going to see this movie are people that have at least heard of ant-man. So, i'd say if you were on the fence, definitely go see it. I don't usually like 3d but i thought the 3d was actually done well in this movie. although, i did see it in imax and that always helps.

Sounds like every non-Captain America movie Disney/Marvel has made.
