The end of Saturday Morning Cartoons.

Today is the last day of Vortexx. Why do you suppose the Saturday morning cartoon thing is dying?

I personally think it's because of DVR and the internet. Why wake up early to watch your favorite shows, when you can just go online and watch them anytime?

The internet killed it and video games.

Kids watched cartoons because it was a fun way to pass the time, and it substituted the old fun way of passing time, like running around outside with other kids getting into shit.

Video games are the new fun way to pass time, and the internet in general combined with things like Netflix etc allow you to watch anything you want on-demand.

I really hate that. Saturday Morning Cartoons is something they should have never have ended for any of those channels.

Also, video games had nothing to do with it.

Still say it happened before.
Sometime in the mid 90s. When Saved By The Bell and imitators took hold, live action tween/teen shows slowly edged out kids programming.

I sure hope this One Magnificent Morning block will flop big time, though even if it does, it may not mean they'll bring back Vortexx. But it would show that this wasn't a good idea.

Saturday Morning Cartoons was a tradition that started in the 60s and has been a big part of many people's childhoods. It's been around too long for them to just take that all away.

Superfriends was the one I always looked forward to the most (LOL). Scooby-Doo wasn't bad either.

Man, that bring back so many memories...

There were numerous Saturday Morning kid shows for me (including those you mentioned) but nothing beats Dragon Ball Z. Waking up 6 in the morning on Saturday and (eventually) Sunday just to catch the next episodes? Those were days.

I still don't think this should have ended. All these channels can have these "mature" and reality shows 24 hours a day but they can't even have just one block for the kids? There's no excuse for that.

You know, I was thinking maybe they should revive Kids' WB as a block on Boomerang or Cartoon Network. I wish they could do that.

^ Don't we all?

Saturday morning cartoons/shows/anime had kinda lost their luster for me after awhile at some point, but being up on a Saturday morning like today and not seeing much on at all makes me realize how I miss 'em now. :\

Kids now and future generations that won't have Saturday morning programs to grow up with as we did though, is what I feel most sad for. It's such a traditional thing that feels weird to have faded away now, even though I get the reasons for it.

Well channels like cartoon network really put the Saturday morning thing to rest. Back then u could only watch cartoons in the morning as opposed to anytime now

The problem with that is we still don't see the cartoons we want. For Saturday Mornings, there was so many different channels with so many different cartoons and it was always a joy to see what's going to happen in the next episode the next week. Great way to get hyped!

There's very few channels like Cartoon Network and therefore, very few shows to watch (especially when they keep playing the same ones over and over). Yet there's PLENTY of channels for reality shows and crime dramas and stuff. *sigh* They just don't care about kids anymore.

Well, looks like it's the end of weekday cartoons now. Qubo doesn't come on Ion Television anymore, it seems.

Told you they don't care about kids anymore. There was no "declining" or anything like that. They just don't care.
