Oh yeah. The Uub In GT was just a major disappointment. But the idea of someone being powerful because they are the reincarnation of the greatest evil in history. I mean that could be a manga on its own.
This guy has the greatest potential and is supposed to be the next savior of this planet. Let's have him do nothing, be lazy and get weaker as he gets older.
Or Gohan could do nothing. His father-in-law is one of the most famous people in the world and could provide for his family like the Ox-King.
There are plenty of things Gohan could do. What Gohan wants to do is pursue his education and help make the world a better place with his mind, not just protecting it with his fists should he be needed.
Your father has died countless times and it has been up to you to save the world in his absence. His father isn't immortal so you'd think that he would keep his body in shape when his father eventually dies again.
Goku's only died twice, and in a series where death means about as much as it does in Mortal Kombat. The only time the earth had ever been in near as much trouble without Goku as it was with him was if you'd want to count something like Bojack Unbound as canon (which is one of the few movies I think definitely can be). Sure, I think Gohan deserves all the same attention as Goku or Vegeta, but as said above, Gohan has a sense of responsibility to his family that neither Goku or Vegeta ever really had. Maybe if this movie were about Cell being brought back to life (honestly, I always preferred Cell) he'd have the same kind of incentive and reason to train as Goku had to stay dead after the Cell saga, but really, a lot of the worst things that happened in the Buu saga didn't have to do with Gohan getting rusty, mostly just Goku being narrow-minded and/or Vegeta being his usual stubborn prick self.
waiting for tomorrow (when the film in Japan willbe released), here "Imma dropping da bomb" because it seems (and I repeat myself, it seems) a new transformation for Goku, and how it appears, also for Vegeta, described as the "Saiyan who surpassed God", is coming.

Well f**k! Suddenly, I find my enthusiasm and expectations greatly lessened. Better I find out now, I guess. Just when I hoped they would try a little harder with the writing for once...
