Well no, he has never been a huge blockbuster. Doubt he ever will be. As a fan, I'm a little dissapointed it did not do better but I'm ok with that.

The movie was okay, the thing that bothers me most is the cut always from fights which I hope they don�t do with Kong vs Godzilla

Thats nonsense because the 2014 one was a big hit. Over $500mill on a $160mill budget.

Shows people were excited to go see it. If it was a better movie though and the sequel wasnt 5 years down the road, then the excitement, hype and success would have grown for the sequel and not declined.

Any franchise done right has potential but it clearly did not connect with the general audience. That is the point.

What I'm saying is that Godzilla may not be huge but so far him and Kong have outtlasted the majority of cinema. Kong is just under a freaking century old character that will be co starring with Godzilla in a major blockbuster film next year almost a hundred years later after his creation,and just under 70 for Godzilla. What other film characters can say that?

A US producer trying to capture the magic of Japanese productions is a lost cause out of the gate. The only reason Power Rangers worked, is because they used Japanese stock footage, and figured out their own formula for the high school segments. Look at what happened when they tried making a big screen Super Sentai movie, it didn't work.

Even if they did succeed in capturing some of what makes them tick, I don't think the audience is there. It's niche Japanophiles who really stick with that stuff, everyone else will see it once out of curiosity, and move on.

At least the fight's weren't as badly done compared to the 2014 movie, It was a slight improvement.

I thought the titans were amazing. Rodan destroyong that squadron and basically speedblitzing fighter jets was super cool.

And the weight of the creatuees was great as well. When they collided in boston and created a shockwave across the city was great as well.

Hopefully they stop that cutaway shit tho
