Ouch, that's going to sting after the first one made $529 million. And yeah, the first one did run longer, but these movies make the bulk of their cash at the beginning. And I doubt it would have milked another $150 million in the extra time.

Well it's budget was $170–200 million.

Well, I mean in the sense that they were probably hoping for a much bigger box office haul than what they got, especially considering they went all in with the monster battles and such.
I'd be kind of worried about Godzilla vs Kong if I were them.

Usually Need to at least double the budget to break even. Sometimes more.
If you triple it is usual a good sign of being profitable.

Yeah and the first one had a smaller budget as well..
Its a combination of the first one not being that good, and waiting too long for the sequel IMO.

Lucky for is it was already well into production so we will get it either way.
But they have delayed it a bit for that reason.

Endgame ruined a lot of movies box offices. Both godzilla and pikachu should have made a lot more.

I watched this and it was okay. I'd give it 6/10 or so.
It's not bad, and it had its moments, but I guess I just didn't care for it. Didn't think it was all that well done. Wasn't even much visual splendor for a premise that should have had it.

So much pain over the masses loving something. Bonus points for the MCU. It is amazing. Quit worrying about others and focus on your own sad life.

There seemed like there was a lot of action with the monsters, but it was all so dark and difficult to appreciate what was really going on.
Compare it to the action and visual spectacle of Kong: Skull Island and it's just not as enjoyable.

I got the Impression they kind of used the Dark to help improve the 3D in the first Zilla Movie. Wonder if that was the same reason for the Dark in KOTM.

I can only assume so. But I thought all of the cgi was on point besides a few instances. The Titans looked pretty damn amazing imo.

Really?...people found it hard to see the monster fights in this 2nd film. I had no problem with it
go re-watch the Godzilla 2014 if you want issues seeing the fights in the dark.
